Welds looking a bit better today. Although I tried a different side shock, and it didn't look like it would fit without rubbing. I did not test fit the wheel this time. Only need to burn in one more thing and then it will be mounted to the frame. May even have time to call @TOTAL CHAOS and ask for some advice..

@cdex8357 its 89 (high of 92) and 58% humidity in VA today.. i seem to pick the right days to do outside work with no shade.

It's likely a driving style difference and terrain. You're demanding more damping when "hammering forest roads" then when driving on the street and you didn't feel the difference until you hit the dirt.

 

I thought it had to do with the temperature of the oil in winter. I think I noticed mine a bit stiffer then too

 

Absolutely could play a factor but with the synthetic oils that most shock companies are using now a days that isn't as drastic as it used to be with conventional oils. Could be multiple variables at play.

 

that's god I reached out before and even saw them in person and they could not figure it out. I ended up trying this out myself.

 

I just called Total Chaos and Pat picked up on the first ring. He's going to identify if I have the correct bypass on the right side. Also confirmed that I probably will need a spacer.

Does anyone know if ARP extended wheel studs or these will fit in the front? Or will I need to get some new hubs with extended studs already installed?

I think im going to try 1/2" spacer first. The guy I bought these bypasses from had -38 offset, which says to me he had scs 17x9 wheels. My wallet isnt ready for a wheel and tire change, so will try spacers first.

So Switching sides is it still rubbing on the shock?

How much longer over stock are these? Will I be able to press into the normal hub with the extended length?

They're 2 5/8 long, not sure what stock is.

Those are about half as much as the ARP, and ARPs are sold in pack of 5, so you need 3, so factor that is as well.

 

The 2 5/8 is the shank length, below I put the tape at the bottom of the stud.

 

The ones I ordered are 1/2" longer than stock. $35 shipped for a set of 12. Not discounting the ARP, but my wallet agrees with these just a little more.

Also I am not sure if front and rear studs are the same length? I am needing a 1/2" spacer in the front to clear the compression tube on my bypasses (I think its what I need)

 

I hear you on the price. I put them front and rear, as have a few others.

 

I tried it, and it seemed like there was less clearance. Although this time, I didnt put the wheel back on and go lock to lock (too damn hot, sweat burning my eyes). Total Chaos also said they were in the correct configuration, but with 315s Id likely need a spacer.

I suppose I could go down a tire size? But wheres the fun in that..

 

Order some Bora slip on hub centric 1/2" spacers. Suckered into the "last set" on ebay haha. Hopefully they come soon

 

I run -38 as well so makes sense. Yah we’ll see if he comes back that’s who I talked to in person and sent photos and no one picked up on it. but swapping it like I showed you will put you in the perfect spot. Even with -38 I was rubbing before I did it. You’ll have more room. Not much room at this tire size and offset.

4.75 offset +1.25 is what they recommend for a spacer which is 3.5. So if you have 4.5 you will want to run .75 minimum.

they also had noted they were not fitted for 35’s when those were added as well so there is that. but I would swap them you will still run with a .75 spacer. If you back space is 4 then .5” should work. But assuming your not 9” wide wheel as long as Bs is around 3.5 should be good.

 

Prob a good move king told me 15/15 when I did mine and I feel it was too stiff.

 

@fatfurious2 I read back you are 3.5” BS. I would really swap sides and see if that solves it. Mine was still close but problem free. .5” will prob help but may not be needed. Make sure to weld the tabs for resi tucked away. I was also rubbing there before it changes it.

 

I have 16x8 -25/3.5BS and 315/75/16. Hope the 1/2" will work. It looks like minimal rubbing, so if 1/2" from where it rubs, then hopefully it will be good.

 

Yah if you swap sides/rotate and add 1/2” you will have a ton. Mine seemed to clear but when you put load on it then it rubs.
