33's vs. 35's with 8 inches lift up front.

So how bout it how many of you get tire rub with the 6 inch kits with 35's?

Mine does rub with the the Fabtech lift and 5100's set for an additional 2 inches of lift. But Im running 33/12.50's full compression and full lock. Rub is minimal on the body mount but is going to be substantial with 35's I know for a fact without chopping the mount.

How many of you run 35's with the mount chopped and get tire rub on the mount. (Key is while in offroad use) I know some may say that they dont rub but are ignoring the fact/ living with it.

I read that Krooks and Freedomrider swapped for 33 because of the rub but how many else have get it with the 35's

Im debate with a new set of KM2's either 305/65/17 or 35/12.50/17 both tires the price and tire weight is the same or pretty close.

Currently with my setup with the 33's and 4.56 gears puts me at 55mph at 2000 or so rpm/ about 200rpm over stock.

Im leaning towards the 35s and willing to do the cut but is it worth it or is it gonna rub my fenders of the truck.

Input and experience is appreciated.

 

bigger is better right? I really don't know how much rubbing you'll have, but with 8" up front I would imagine the 35s will rub minimally. Thought I'd post somethin cuz nobody else was - hopefully someone with actual experience chimes in soon.

 

i think its the offset of the rims cause i got an offset of 4.5 and 33 13.5 tires and mine still rub the body mount on a 6in lift. i think 35s will fit if you got the right offset on your rim

 

^^ I agree with the offset part but I have two choices. I run a 17x9 pro comp wheel with a 1.5 hub spacer most of the time for the wider track width. I guess I would have to try with and without. Without I just may clear but with hmmm...

I was even thinking of adding the timberin's up front from allpro to help slow down the up travel a bit.

If the Toyo MT's weren't so pricey 285/75/17 is what would be on there now.

 

I always give them 8 inches up front. I don't hold back.

 

Go with 35s. 33's with 8 inches of lift will look so small...

 

I've got a 6" Fabtech lift with 35's and no issues. I just had the open bushwacker flared fenders installed which gave me even more room. I'm thinking about putting 37's on next year.The pic dosen't have the bushwackers on it.

have you considered regearing for 35 or do you not mind the power and mpg loss?

 

Regearing is done already with 4.56. I know 33's look small and 35's look perfect but function is key.

i have 7.5" of lift on a 1st gen, i only rub at almost full lock, but its rubbing front leaf springs, even the 33s did that, i say go 35 (thats what im running)

 

Isn't it a bad idea to have the Bilstein's set higher than 0" on another lift?

 

Honestly.. I have a 6" Pro Comp lift and 35x12.50 R18 and i honestly don't rub.. EXCEPT! if i'm off cambur and/ or hit a big bump while mostly turned.. But for the most part.. Daily driving and if i take it slow on the trails then i'm ok.. I have no problems at all and i have still yet to cut my body mount... You should never really "Stack" lifts though.. Maybe body and suspension.. but not suspension and suspension.. TOO much strain...

 

I know you shouldn't stack lifts but do you really know why. Its not strain on parts if you know now the suspension works. If you crank adjustable coilovers on a Drop Bracket Lift are you considered stacking?
Its the one who over achieve that jack things up. Soo not good.

You have to get under your truck with your specific lift. For example knowing how much lift is too much for bind or excessive wear on parts. I have the option of adding lift while preventing the cv boots from rubbing, and leveling out the front from side to side due to weight on the drivers vs passenger.

 

well with 4" and 6" and 8 " lifts it just moves the stock suspension down with brackets and longer extension so in theroy it just a longer bigger whatever u want to call it suspension so with a 6 inch you can put more lift because it would just be like a stock suspension. i say this because i know you can do it with chevy ifs so i would think the same goes with taco ifs

Also people say dont stack lifts so what about blocks and aals?
Thats stacking.
The leaf pack i got eliminated so many issues of that and traction issues, but in the end its works with a block aal in the rear.

All of this depends on what type of use your truck goes through.

alot of trial and error comes with modification.

Each generation and product manufacturer usually differs
