I didn't pay much for it, got it from the B-I-L, a tree had fallen on it.

Broke all the engine plastic and tins -- about $40 on e-bay. I had a green hood, 20 years older but green.
Battery and a couple of tires got it going -- occasionally.
Later found the coil had a tiny crack -- learned my lesson before, I bought an OEM Kohler coil.

Let it go man, let it go. Some deep breathes.

Sell it and get another time saver. You’ll be happier in the long run.

:rofl:identical, just not the same. Reminds of of a Russian fellow I worked with years ago (the same one the cherry fell off cigarette and caught his apron on fire). Anyways we machined a bunch of iron castings and one time a bunch of them came in messed up. They all had flaws but in different areas. 'Ol Borris says, "they're all the same, only different"

Nice! Do you have one similar for your hey dudes collection? I should come up with something better for all the families shoes. They all get kicked off little ways in the door, but landing area for back door that's not used.

Picture of Toe's house from out yonder. I took 4 wheeler to the creek and dumped off some of last year's flower pots dirt and a big ol snake my daughter caught today.20220601_185308.jpg 20220601_184006.jpg

There's probably 50 pairs of shoes scattered aimlessly about this house.
    Bedroom...yep
    Other bedroom....yep
    Other bedroom....yep
    Living room....yep
    Kitchen...you betcha
    Dining room....you know it
I think the bathrooms are the only shoe-free zones in my house.

I had a similar problem with one of these years ago, there was mud plugging the vent in the gas cap.

1953 Packard 300 series, "Cavalier" was used on equal range the coupes & sedans.
This body was used from 51-53, from the emblem on the deck lid it is a 53.
It is not the top of the line mid-year introduced Caribbean, only 750 were built in 1953.

    MSRP $3,486 = $37,746 today
Packard was (obviously) a premium make in the day, originally marketed at Cadillac, by this time it had slipped downmarket a bit, closer to Buick. Due to the end of the post war sellers boom coupled with poor (and elderly ) management, the handwriting was on the wall for once proud Packard.

    To compare:
    Cadillac convertible $4,144 = $44,871 today
    Buick convertible $3,506 = $37,964 today
    Ford convertible $2,230 = $24,146 today
    Chev convertible $2,175 = $23,551 today

The engine was a Packard "Thunderbolt" L - head (flat head) straight 8 of 327 cubic inches (5.3 liter for you metric folks) rated 180 HP @ 4000 rpm. At 8 to 1 compression it was advertised as the "worlds highest compression in line eight".
3-1/2" bore and 4-1/4" stroke. This is a long stroke (undersquare: bore is smaller than the stroke) engine like a Dodge 225 slant six.
Crankshaft weight is listed at 104 pounds riding on 5 main bearings. :muscleflexing:

Mind you, dowdy old Ford had been using V8 engines since 1932 and Buick had a brand new V8 this year, Olds went V8 in 1949 and Cadillac in 1914. The straight eights ran very smooth, quiet and produced excellent torque however.

Interior was offered in 4 trim choices of the finest leather.
If fitted with the optional (Packard built) Ultramatic 2 speed with a lock up torque converter, the original owner paid $199 for the convenience of not shifting. ($2154.78 today)
Also optional were HYDRAULIC power windows.
