yep...Verde was doig a lot of great stuff back then!!

as much as we used to ride back in the day, these bikes were definitely not made for long distance riding! I still ride mine with the wife whe we cruise the neighborhood as well

my life was shaped by my time on my BMX bike back in the late 70's and early 80's. BMX and drums were the center focus of my life back then, and both are still the same to this day...

I still bike myself, mountain biking however. My desire to ride still is from my love of riding my bmx bike as a kid. The 80’s were the absolute best time in regards to bmx. I couldn’t wait for the bmx plus and bmx action mags to arrive at the grocery store.

yep...BMX led me to MTB in the early 90's. The BMX sort of fell to the back until my step son got me back into it 12 years ago. Now I ride both evenly

and yep...BMX was the core of our lives back then...there were 12 of us in the neighborhood group, and we ALL had BMX's when all of the other kids our age just had regular bikes. Man, we ruled the streets back then!!

New school BMX. Rode a lot growing up, stopped around 2010. Some of the best times of my life were pedaling around doing dumb shit with cool people. Had the pool looking ramps, a 5x10’ box jump and some dirt trails at my house growing up.

I, too, used to get down. Had a pretty popular local blog up until late 2011, filmed a lot of videos (my entire Vimeo account was deleted for copyright strikes, sadly - still need to re-up everything on Youtube), and put on and hyped up events. Mostly stayed in CA, but got up to OR several times, AZ and NV a bit, and Marseilles once about 15 years ago. I still ride 3-4 times a year.

Sub for this. Rode BMX as a kid but was never good. Home made ramps/dirt jumps, occasional visit to the Hackettsown skate park. Recently got back into dirt bikes/dual sports so that has been consuming my life/energy but I have a 2 year old who's going to be cruising around the hood soon and I want a bike to ride along side him/fuck around on.

Where at in South Jersey do you ride?

I ride everywhere. I cruise the streets a few days a week for an hour or so.
Last night I took my son to ice hockey practice.... I cruise the area there looking for stuff to jib around on.
I frequent williamstown skatepark a couple/few nights a week until it gets too cold.
I have a small dirt setup in my woods -- it's too much to keep up on, but I maintain it and ride it a couple times a week as long as its dry. I wish it was bigger, but digging solo takes time.
I'll go to freedom skatepark once in a while... I'm not all that great and concrete kinda scares me (maybe cuz I dont ride it enough).
I'll go to philly pumptrack once in a while
    Paines park is fun too.
Basically I'll ride street when I can, park when I can, and dirt at home (dirt is hard to come by just because it takes maintenance).

I ride whatever I can 3 to 6 times a week. I'm in my mid 40s, so getting broke off ruins riding for a few weeks. Even minor bangs, bumps, and bruises seem to take a month to heal and always seem to get reinjured. I try to put in some time daily. I learn new things that are in my wheelhouse. I ain't trying to progress to backflips .... just wanna be able to go fast and rip around comfortably on anything 5ft and under. 6ft and over I proceed with caution

Depends what I'm doing and whom I'm with but I love my old Predator just like I had as a kid..try out some stuff and see if anything grabs you. What did you have back in the day?

Awesome, that's kinda what I want the bike to be, some cross training/something to ride around the neighborhood with my son while I am waiting for him to get old enough to have a motor.

It was an entry level bike, DK 8 pack.

    This one actually:

    https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/bmx-bike-dk-eight-pack-170542081

I think I will want something I can tool around with that is going to be comfy for my size. I'm 6'2" and 190lbs lol

Just get a complete that has a 21.25" frame. New school bmx bikes are mainly setup for larger riders. Figure most riders these days are grown men. My skatepark is filled with all grown men 28-50. I ride with one guy who is 6'5 and large framed. He rides a short frame and looks like a gorilla on a tricycle. He just got some 9.75" rise handlebars last week and was throwing some big tricks. He said the taller bars just make everything easier for him. I'd imagine his setup isn't any good for cruzin the streets, but it works for him in the park

I have 8" rise bars on my Predator and my Hutch. That said I'm running 1" threaded headset and using a single cable detangler so my stem is riding higher in the fork.

Dude, that's a sweet survivor ride. I wouldn't go doing anything crazy, just clean it up and adjust brakes etc..and ride it with a smile!

Pulling some parts off a Hutch, and found this old Suntour BB. Sealed bearings still super smooth. Actually labeled as a BMX item. Some of the old race bikes ran Campy or Suntour road bike parts.
