1999 XtraCab Frame repair

I contacted tour shipping may be steep as I am on the east coast an imagine they are fairly heavy but certainly worth checking into.

 

I have an appointment also with a fabricator/welder with very high recommendations that said he has repaired numerous Tacos with the same rusted spot right where the leaf spring mounts and mentioned the safety caps to him an he said he wouldnt use the safety caps because he prefers cutting the rusted piece out an fabricating his own. He stated it would be much stronger an also get rid of the horrible bubble gum weld the POS did to it prior.

 

Yeah that’s the same thing, the SafeTcaps require you cut out the rust shit too, he’s just going to fab his own rather than using the prefab plate. They aren’t really “caps” so much as 11 gauge steel replacements for the bottom portion of the frame

 

I feel like around 1000$ is a very fair price for the job with having to drop the gas tank an all the other things involved I am sure there will be some unexpected set backs with the rusty bolts etc but ill be very happy with around 1000$ for that. Then I can get my bed rear suspension and bumper done an have her back to looking good. I do have to get the hood painted. Wonder why so many Tacoma's around 99 have issues with the hood paint coming off ‍♂️
