Hello TW, I'm trying to gauge the ETA of my 2022 TRD OR at my local dealership. Completely understand the variables involved and uncertainties in logistics however just trying to get an average reading.

Per my sales contact, the trucks had a build date of 5/24/22. His personal assessment was the latter part of June however I've seen instances of ~2 weeks (early/mid June) as well. For those who ordered and waited, what was the usual ETA from build to delivery? As I'm selling another vehicle to make space, I'd like to time it the best I can.

Last year, I put a deposit down in May, got my allocation in July, had a projected build date in early September, was delayed a bit, and had the truck in late October.

Seems to vary a lot. Mine was built 5/5, got on train 5/17to deliver to Toyota facility in Indiana, 5/25 was informed it was on QC hold, still waiting.

Mine was built and shipped from Mexico within 48 hrs, and took 45 days to arrive at the dealership in Ct. The original estimate was 3 mos.

Yes it varies. Factors include location and size of dealers manifest along with hub shipping locations along with usual shipping and random morons.

Back when I was waiting on mine and monitoring this, west coast was pretty fast a couple weeks after build and arriving at port in San Diego. I live in the midwest and mine was 2 months after build date to get to the dealer. About 30 days in QC and then another 30 for transport. I think you're safer assuming later than 2 weeks from build

My experience was one week for NorCal (picked up in Santa Rosa).

My truck was built on a Friday, and was on the move from San Diego by Monday, arrived at the dealership Wednesday morning. I picked up Wednesday evening. They knew I was coming so they made an effort to get the truck ready same day for me.

I would say you could expect one to two weeks. I’ve heard the truck will sit until they have a full load (by train or semi?) then start moving, but I’ve never fact checked that so take it with a grain of salt.

Freeman Toyota I assume? If so, this is where mine is from. Called today and latest status was it was processed in the factory 5/27, not sure what the difference between building date of 5/24 and "processed" on 5/27 is but I assume it's different.

Couldn’t tell you but it didn’t take long to get up there. Yea it was freeman Toyota and although they got me my truck my experience with their sales team was terrible and I have been ghosted after I left their lot. If you experience the same, post a 1 star review on Yelp (give detail and be objective don’t lie). After I did that they called me back finally and eventually took care of me after I promised to remove the review. It was like trying to herd cats to get them to help me but since I’ve gotten what I needed I have just decided I’d never go back there.

Gotcha, I may be in a worst spot if I ever needed a follow up w/ them as I'm 1.5 hours away. Hopefully I can simply purchase the truck and not need anything that requires me to physically come back.

I know that feeling, I drove 7 hours to pick up my truck and I was 7 hours away trying to get them to give me a dealer invoice so I could refi. They only sold me the truck through their financing even though I brought my own and when I told them “fuck that, let me pay cash” they turned that down as well. My bank gave me 2.3% and Toyota financing came back with 7.75% so understandably I didn’t want to stay on their loan.

Not a Toyota but something I find amusing. I ordered a Ranger in August, got a Nov 8th build date, truck was delivered to the dealer on Monday. My cost was going to be 35K, dealer has it on the lot for 46K

Are you still buying the ranger at your cost? Or did you cancel and now they’re trying to upcharge?

No, I actually canceled the order and got my deposit back in January when they again delayed the build date, the salesman called me on Monday to confirm I no longer wanted the truck. It was a extended cab XL 4x4 with Fx4 package.

Depends on where the truck is built, and where you are located. Trucks built in Guanajuato, Mexico, and destined for the East Coat of the U.S., first go to Vera Cruz, where they wait to be loaded on a roll-on, roll-off car carrier. Since these ships carry several thousand vehicles at a time, it might take several days to accumulate a worthwhile cargo. The ship then heads to the port of Newark, New Jersey, where any port-installed accessories are added. Then they are shipped by truck to dealers in the NE U.S.

All told, my truck took about a month from the time it was built until it arrived at my dealer.

If you know this pattern, you can track car-carrier ships in real time over the Internet. Look for such ships that are docked at, or depart from, Vera Cruz in the window of about a week after your build date.

Other parts of the country follow a different routing.
