Buddy of mine is hooking up a compressor for a air tank. What color is the wire that feeds the cigarette lighter? Trying to locate it under the dash near the center console without taking the whole thing apart and tracing it out. Looking for a 12v source that is only on after pushing the start button.

Wouldn't it be easier to tap into the fusebox under the hood or under the dash?

    TS4x4 and BMH like this.

What I was thinking…? I Think he is doing a relay and maybe pulling a couple of small things off of it?

If he has a 2020+ model, there's a blank fuse slot by the driver's side kick panel labeled "USB" that's an ignition source of power. Throw an add-a-fuse in there and he'd be good to go.

fyi the wires feeding the cigarette lighter are TINY for the 10amps its rated for. if you have a compressor with battery clips for power, you'll want to run for higher than 15amps

The compressor will have a wire straight to the battery. I think he has decided to run the trigger wire for the solenoid off of the P/Outlet No.2 15A. Pulls about 5A.
