Little lift info

Looks like I might be picking up a new 2011 TRD Double Cab in the next week or two. I'm going with a 4x4 "ofcourse", auto tranny, black paint, short box...You know all the stock goodies of the TRD line. Anyway, I'm already shopping around for lifts even though I probably wont put one on it for awhile "the wife would be pissed if I started ripping a brand new truck apart in the garage this fast, lol" .... I'm thinking something kinda mild, 2.5"-3" range at the most..I dont want to jump into buying new control arms and stuff like that for awhile. Honestly there wont be much real wheeling going on with it...I pretty much want a couple inches of lift for the look more than anything. I live in Iowa and god knows we get our fair share of snow every winter around here and the majority of my "offroading" these days are driving around fields to hang deer stands or haul deer out...I do some hunting trips out west every year as well, again no crazy Moab kinda wheeling, my trucks are hunting rigs, kid haulers "I got 3 girls & a wife", grocery getters and getting me around to 3-d shoots.
So anyway, with the kind of driving that I do are spacer lifts really as bad as everyone makes them out to be??? I saw numerous ones on eBay at some cheap prices "and I like cheap", and being that I'm not gonna be beating the hell out of it would I be ok with a spacer lift in the front?? I know there are alot of other options when it comes to lifts like the Bill. shocks and alot of other stuff but since I'm not wanting to go real tall with it and it's not gonna be a trail rig are spacers really that bad???
Oh and in the back I'm thinking of an AAL type lift "I like a little rake on a truck". I'm just looking for some solid advice from the Tacoma gurus.

Sorry for all this nonsense on your post. But in all reality, no body wants to read a full page to try to answer your question - just make it brief and to the point.

I went with the OME front lift coils/shocks and rear OME dakar springs with shocks - all being installed right now. Good lift for the money. Check out or . They have good options on there. Also use the search feature at the top of the page.

Spacer lifts usually give a harsh ride and dont give you good offroad capabilities.

I did do a search but it seemed like most every one blasting the spacer lifts wheeled alot more than I will...That's why I asked, plus that's the reason I wrote "a page" to begin with. I was wanting to throw the info out there on what I planned to do with the truck.

What they are trying to say is you need to first do some research.

only you truely know what type driving you are going to do, and what you expect.

once you have a good idea about the direction you want to go,

then you can ask some specific questions on what you intend.

but when you say i drive like this , what should i get ??

well there are hundreds of applications that could apply and

hense lack of interest to help.

your doing good with wanting to start with a toyota,

just keep researching, reading all the threads, they will probably lead to more questions.

I was totally ignorant about lifts
and even though I have no immediate plans to install one, as I don't off road (intentionally)
I searched around a bit and have done quite a bit of reading
now I know a little about lifts, but I'm still ignorant.
