New girl joined the pack recently. She’s hopefully going to get these boys in line.

Nah. Trust me. It is not easier knowing the end is near. All you do is wonder when the end stage is reached and when it is, it's often fairly quick. That was my experience.

we lost a few dogs (meaning my parents) like that when i was younger and it was a bit easier to deal with for me since they were older and we knew it was coming soon so we did everything with them before they went so they got a last week/month of nothing but being spoiled it still sucks when they go but idk to me i feel thats a better way then sudden at least.. i would have loved to know i have one more week with her to take her to our fav camping spot and spend one last night there.

    Yeah.
Awesome group of Brussels! We are down to 1, but we had 3, all rough coats. Very sweet "velcro" dogs.

Recently, my daughter & I were taking Fen for a walk through our neighborhood. When we found 2 full-grown Labs, a German Shepherd & a Husky all playing in a front yard. The owners saw us, waved us over and assured us that all of the big dogs were friendly.
So, we walk over and sure enough, they took to Fen as if he had been a member of their pack already. (This is Fen, wrestling with his new bestie "Meema" the Husky).20220517_190117.jpg
Fast forward a few weeks and the owner of the 2 Labs says "it's really hot, we're going to let the dogs go swimming. You're welcome to join."
So now, Fen is learning how to swim and absolutely loves his new crew.

Fen, sad that play time is over for the day.

Fen, after spending the last 2 hours playing with his buddies.

I've been very fortunate to meet and friend these neighbors. Happy to have some new buddies for Fen as well. He's socializing really, really well.

This is his happy face when we tell him that he's going for a walk to see his buddies.

No, quick is better. My 16 y 5 mo & 1 week old dog has been going down hill for over 3 years now. Every day I get up and wonder if last night was the night she left. She can barely walk (has had trouble for over a year now) and only moves when she has to. I'm happy she's still with me, but dang it's hard watching..... she's been on pain meds and joint supplements for 3 years.
