In all seriousness if GFC drops a standalone bed cap this fall and it's under $4K I'm going to grab it, setup my 04 with it's standard load, weigh everything, and FINALLY submit my order for some Alcans. My old style Dakars are inverted for literally no reason and suck.

+3.5" @ 900lbs is a long way from +1.5" at factory weight (especially when "factory weight" probably means a v6 extended cab and I have a 4-cylinder regular cab). I think I'd have to remove half the leaves to get down to a reasonable ride height.

I understand the lead times, even moreso because I'm ordering through a vendor (bilsteinlifts.com) who has no say over production schedules. I'm mostly annoyed that their website still says 6 weeks.

why no build

 

My boss got his ass chewed the fuck out today and threatened with a lemon lawsuit over a warranty claim involving a sensor (on the engine NOT something specific to our build) that was B/O 22 wks.... its only been 20 wks since we filed the warranty claim with the engine manufacturer

 

Mostly because I don't have the parts on hand and don't want to buy them. Also partly because I don't have the space--I'm hovering around 6 bikes right now, and they all have to fit into the garage/workshop with my tools and truck.

 

Shame it’s not a 5 lug. I want to build a 5 lug into a race legal truck for chump car.

I'm not convinced a manual 2.4 single cab 5 lug gets over 30mpg like that ad says. Could be wrong but it just doesn't seem right.

 

The best I ever got was 26mpg driving between LA and Vegas. I'm calling BS

 

@BartMaster1234 the carrier bearing went bad on the 5lug yesterday. It's pinging now.

 

one of those... with a camry power train swap.. but get this... in the bed. IRS rear.... would be totally Chump car legal. points wise leaves alot for brakes and etc mods. and it would kick ass due to pickup truck lack of weight.

mr2 is right now. the 01 should have progress shortly after it.

the red truck is getting the frame swapped as soon as i can (aka when the MR2 is running and not hogging the rack)

the white truck is getting the bed when i can get some people lined up to help swap it over.

the 98 is likely getting the frame off dallas's truck at some point this year

 

Make sure to order the Spicer part number, it comes in a Spicer box but with the Toyota part number stamped into it. Way cheaper.

 

Was going to say, you had spindles, cv axles, etc.

But then you would've had a shit ton of extras and it'd be a pain to get rid of.
