seems like a lot of "old tech" like this is coming back in style. Canning, jams and jellies, etc

My mom did all that when I was a kid. Home made tomato sauce, jellies, pickles -- from garden to jar -- cases upon cases of the Ball mason jars. We had a mammoth freezer too.

My mom made a thick chunky spicy sauce too, kind of a utility sauce like a salsa maybe... :hungry:

So long ago I had forgotten about it -- made me smile for the memory. :)
Thanks for booting the old memory bank up.

My mom tried to make homemade noodles (multiple times). They were kinda cross between a dumpling and a noodle, way too thick to be a noodle. It was a fail for the most part but actually taste wise werent half bad....it would never pass todays standards of food but she tried. Every once in a while i get a craving for that. She was trying to be resouceful, when you grew up poor it makes (me) appreciative now that Im older

Exactly. We never wasted a dollar -- because we didn't have any spare ones to waste.

All these years later the habits remain essentially hard wired into my DNA.
Even though I have moved away from living that close to the edge I still remember the worry of being there -- having just enough gas to get to work until payday and praying nothing broke.

Damn Sam! Good thing I'm not there, all kinds of cool stuff... :jellydance::jellydance::jellydance:

The engine looks to be a Continental Red Seal flat head 4 (F or Y series  I forget...) Popular in all kinds of equipment: fork lifts, welders, pumps, generators, on and on. My 1946 fork lift has a earlier model with the distributor on the side instead of out the top. They sound wonderfully smooth and calm when running.

Continental was a full line engine maker with bigger models going in automobiles, construction equipment and over the road trucks before diesels were common.

That is a 53-57 David Bradley Tri-Trac, DB was owned by Sears & Roebuck, around 4000 built

What I see is an apparently brand new 70's International pick up tailgate.

Walk behind track dump trucks -- give me a bidders card!

Quadractor -- that is cool gadget built (in low numbers) in the late 70s - early 80s. It was intended for hauling logs with it's 8-1/2 hp engine and 72:1 gear ratio. It has 3 feet of ground clearance and full time 4wd and all wheel steering.
