Wasn’t suggesting that it should be free, just saying that for me it isn’t worth more than $200 for what you get.

Fair. Kinda misconstrued what you meant in that post. My bad. No one should work for free. The tunes people are making and putting a lot of work into are likely a lot better than 2.0. Wish I could justify getting back into it again.

I'm not sure where that message is from but I am an original OVTune customer and now a Maggy Customer and my stuff isn't working.

Any tuner that is confident in their product will let customers test it on the customers truck before spending any $. I’ve never had a single customer ask to go back to stock after running the tunes up the mountain pass near my house where I send them on test drives.

If they don’t like it, and I can’t get it adjusted to their liking, I’ll put them back to stock and send them on their way. They are out nothing but time and I eat the cost of VIN registration credits. Again, that’s never happened in hundreds of customers, but that’s my offer.

*edit* my approach doesn’t work for DIY folks that buy the software and hardware. But it’s how I run my tune installation business.

It's from VfTune customer support, I am also an original OVtune customer and my stuff works fine after contacting them and following their instructions.

So they emailed to let you know? I don't recall receiving any correspondence regarding the change to VFT.

Yes, another dongle that doesn't work with the latest download of VFT apparently.
It worked to flash the Maggy SC software so yeah its super frustrating.

This approach is significantly more appropriate for in-person tuning than it is for remote distribution where someone only has to say they don't like it and then you've distributed your product for free and they're free to remain on the tune if they actually did like it.

And then what? They PM people to say "hey, X-tune is great, but they'll let you test it out for free and you only pay if you like it, so just say it didn't fit your driving style or shift right, and you'll be fine. Don't tell anyone I told you this though or post about this publicly."

No, they posted here on TW like 2 years ago explaining the swap. Their post said to email their support and ask to be migrated over to the new software as we're grandfathered in to the "Lite" version, or can pay $80 to gain the new functionality.

Spend 15 seconds on a Google search and you'll see the same thing.

This would've been prior to the new licensing changes though.

I fully understand the frustration, and you're not the only one in the situation that you're in with those license errors, but I've also seen a lot of people post that they had the error and got it resolved through Mat.

At the end of the day, you are an OG OVT customer, entitling you to VFTuner Lite for free as an upgrade if you wish to go that route, and you have VFTuner Lite via Magnuson, meaning that regardless you'll get taken care of.

If Mat does not reply immediately, please note that he is overseas in Asia, and he's been announcing for some time that services and support will be unavailable from 04-06 June. I'm not defending him, I'm just providing information.

Hell, if you get both of your tactrix device licenses sorted on VFTuner Lite, you could sell one if you wanted

I edited my post to reflect that. There are benefits and drawbacks to having someone load the tune for you. Cost and ability to test are benefits. Inability to change tunes yourself is the big drawback.

IMO we should all be bitching at Toyota and maybe we wouldn't have to spend good money on tunes. If we quit buying their lousy running trucks, maybe they would fix the real problem. Buying these trucks and tunes is optional. Nobody is making us do it. I am very much to blame also. But I promise I will never buy another vehicle that runs and shifts that lousy, from the factory again.

I want to stay current with my trucks software like I want to flagellate myself, it should be fire and forget not following some stupid process because they can't figure out a licensing process that isn't totally forked.

I'm sure you love nothing more than playing around with your truck software so why didn't they just auto grandfather the licenses as to prevent the customer from going through the BS process?

If you wanted fire and forget you shouldn't have installed a supercharger.

I'm not sure I follow your logic? Turbos would be better?
