B-4. A word I use to hear from the old timers. B-4 the fishing was plentiful. B-4 the roads were less crowded.
Today as a old timer now. I can only tell the younger generation, what life was like B-4.

For you younger ones, Today , NOW! , enjoy every moment, because 20-30 years from now (June 2022 ) you will always remember that date as your B-4. Yes in 2022 , life was so much better!

The kids I share fishing with do not understand that this is best time for fishing (NOW) because 20-30 years from now, fishing maybe gone? Not like B-4.

Same for the off-roading trails, many will be gone, 20-30 years from now. Enjoy what you have today, B-4 it is gone.

Years ago I worked with a fellow who was super cheap -- now there is a difference between being cheap = thrifty and being cheap = small.

He was cheap = small -- a miserable, selfish, despicable chiseler of a person who never went out of his way for anyone and wouldn't kick in a buck for flowers when a co-workers mother dies kind of small.

The workers used to mess with him by supergluing coins to the concrete floor here and there in the department.
He would go fetch a hammer and chisel to get them up.

Selfish people , hard to live with, hard to work with. Life becomes so much fuller when sharing and caring with others!

We were in Memphis earlier this year and discovered a place called Gus’s hot fried chicken. I was on the googler looking to show a friend of mine and saw they had a franchise in Oakland. I almost cried! I have been back as often as my arteries will allow.

I was born and raised in San Francisco, it’s someone else’s city now. I learned to drive a stick driving tractor trailer on those hills. I don’t really go there much anymore. Funerals and weddings. I volunteer at my High School sometimes. And on occasion walk my dog at Fort Funston. Otherwise it’s a foreign country.

    Evening all:

Whatcha reloading, some components, especially primers, are slim pickings.

    Evening Sue!!

There is a lot of B-4 on my end that I could talk about also, it seems like nothing is anywhere near as good as it was as I was growing up and don't see it improving down the road, only getting worse! :(

    I am a hoarder.
I bought in bulk years ago and still haven’t sold anything.
I am reloading 308 for my 1919A beltfed I'm taking it to Oregon for a shoot in July (possibly) depends on my nephews orders. I have a Dillon 650 set up for 308 just to feed that cow.

many people can enjoy that gun as long as I keep doing things the way I have been. I remember when things began a lot of people wanted to buy primer and powder from me but I held on. I’m set for as long as I need to shoot.

I knew a guy that would walk into an auto parts store and try to buy a single bake pad instead of a set, and even though vacuum hose was sold by the foot for 15 cents he would want to buy it by the inch. It's hard to understand being that tight with money. Frugal is one thing but cheap is cheap.

I worked in the financial district of SF (425 Market st) for 12 years, use to take dates to SF as far back as high school, use to be a fun city. You are right, it’s a foreign country, a 3rd world country now. I made a decision a few years ago that I would never set foot in SF again because of what’s it’s become. Looking back on the great times I had there it’s really sad. Oh well. Next time I go to Oakland I’ll check out Gus’s, sounds like my kind of place.
Anyway welcome to the porch. Great place, great people here.

Ken I designed and installed cubicles for a living. My brother owns a residential moving company and I knew I didn’t want to do that for a living. I had to deliver to rich people in HS and it sucked. I took design in college and never looked back.
I went into office and industrial. Been in most addresses downtown and pretty much all the Bay Area. I watched San Jose go from an orange grove to a tech giant with no soul. Feel blessed to grow up here but it is all different now crazy prices and crazy people.

425 Market is a great building but horrible access for projects. That semi circular driveway and low ceiling made daytime deliveries impossible. All OT at 425. I had a crew in there during Loma Prieta. They were doing a job for IBM. I was in New Zealand on my honeymoon but heard all about it when I got back. They said that building rocked!

    Welcome to the porch.

Mom would take us to HOJO's maybe one a month on Wednesday night's. Dad bowled on Wednesday nights. Frid clams were always my favorite.

Added the set to one of my wish lists. TY

Water is always an appreciated addition to the cooler.

THX Mike. I was really hoping I will be able to find a set with larger handles and quality tips. Quality tips are pretty easy to find but larger handles not so much.

Going to put a second coat of wax on the Avalon this morning. If you live in a cooler climate, not down south, this is a nice summer wax. Really makes dark colors pop. If you have a lighter color vehicle this wax in liquid form is the best. Warning the wax only lasts about 2 months but in the Carnauba Wax world that is a long time. Most over the counter waxes only last 4 weeks maybe 6. If we do not go out to dinner tonight, I am going to cook a large one bone rib roast on the kettle grill with a rotisserie. If not tonight, then tomorrow night. I have not tried this before, and it looks interesting. I may be going to Bowiefest today with the family. A local celebration day in our city.

    Morning all:

Smart move, I also stocked up on components over the years, some more than others, but I'm good to go for the duration on the calibers that I use the most.
I only use a single stage RCBS Rock Chucker for the reloading that I do, if I owned that 1919A I would definitely have a progressive setup! I watch guys at the gun club blow through 100-200 .223 or 9mm in no time, if I shot the way they do I would be shooting for 30min. and reloading for 8 hrs. I would say that all of them just buy loaded ammo, seems like .223 and 9mm are readily available, FOR NOW!

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Gals! Finish the filter - actually, do the valve over. Wanted to reuse the old one, since it's identical, and nothing wrong with it. Well, there actually is. Inlet valve drips. Lots of teflon wrap, and even some putty, and it's not fixing it this time. So pull it, stir the pot, and on with the new one. And somehow, get the old tank to the field to dump it. Putz after that.

Finally got the truck back from the body shop last eve. Full bill for being hit by bicycle (not including the rental while down) was north of $3000. Looking forward to being able to park in lots designed for the dinky toy cars they build now. The fordor Ram rental was huge - but better on gas - the thing I dislike most about the Taco.

Will have to buff off the RH headlight - noticeably dull now that the LH is new. Will clearcoat preserve the renewed surface better than the wax that comes in the kits?

I wish I could remember WHICH kit had the good sealant - I think it was Meguire's. I didn't think you could clear coat the acrylic, but several Mr. Google articles seem to say after sanding it down, you can!

The secret to keeping headlights clear after you buffed out the yellow oxidation is to apply a clear UV protectant. I did my grossly oxidized headlights 3+ years ago and they still look like new because I apply Meguiars clear coat twice a year. When the plastic lens yellow and oxidize they have lost their UV protection. When you polish and buff them all of the UV protection is destroyed. If you don’t use a protectant on them they will get hazy in a few months. Here’s a pic of my headlights 3+ years after I did them and a pic of the stuff I us as protectant.

THAT'S the stuff! We used that after a few cheap kits on the sons old Previous, and they were a miracle of new afterwards until the car died. I was using the Meguire's "wax" stuff on my new replacements, until I could remember which one it was. Now, I shall proceed to procure!
