If the cv breaks between the bell and the splines inside the hub, the bearing will fall apart/walk out.

He broke the outer stub shaft it needs that 175# from that spindle nut to hold it together. The friction will only get you so far.

Makes sense, it didn't strike me as something that would come apart that easily. When I did my bearings I bought it as an assembly so it's one of the few pieces I haven't had apart myself.

Yeah I know a couple people who have broke cvs, pulled them out since they were broken, and tried driving home just to have the whole wheel break off haha. I keep a spare cv or two, and a spare outer stub shaft for this reason incase I break a couple or someone else breaks

Guess I'll be throwing an outer joint in the kit. I got some retirees floatin around I can scavenge one from. I do carry a spare complete one already though.

You mean they pulled them out of diff side and left the outers in the hub? And then it walked out like the above video?

Nope, other way around. Left diff side in, and pulled the outer.

Rubicon in just over 2 weeks, so going through the whole truck/fixing a couple things.
Picked up some Warfab tie rod sleeves, good piece of mind. Intent is to strengthen them just enough to not bend the tie rod as easily, but not strengthen the tie rod assembly so much (like a heim setup) that the rack becomes the weak point which is bad/not as easy to change as a bent tie rod.
In theory the inner cup area should break/bend or the outer should go, before the rack grenades.
    PSX_20220603_235042.jpg PSX_20220603_234740.jpg

And a photo of a tie rod a buddy bent this last weekend, in turn binding the cv and breaking the diff mount, and eventually breaking the outer as well. Pain in the ass to change it in place as we couldn't just winch him out.

They kick ass, probably the best all around daily driven tire I've had out of probably 20 different tires.
Just this last weekend I took them through sand, shitty spring snow, mud, slick rock, and dry rock. They have 45k miles on them with lots of negligent wear from either bad alignments or doing burnouts while stuck lol. Think Im going to get 55k out of them before I jump to 37s, in either the RT or their new MT if its out around winter time.

Impressive. I currently have cooper st maxx in 315/70/17 with 70k on them. How do 10.5 handle on the road? I like that they are skinny, but pretty tall. Taller than my current tire. Hopefully less rolling resistance and maybe better mpg hehe.

They handle pretty damn good! Technically more "psi" than a wider tire would have since you have the same weight, but narrower tread width. Pretty much drive the truck like a track car in the street

Have had a pair of Bilstein 6112’s sitting in my garage all winter, stoked to make it in to Kevin’s the other week & have him install them. He does great work & knows his stuff. Was cool to be able to hang out, watch, & learn. 55666FCF-66DC-4A9D-A870-2600B32159D1.jpg

Couple more photos of @Shadowhunter 63 swap! Him and his son did a huge help in getting it all done, and we managed to do both the shock relocation and the 63s in a day.
Ruffstuff brackets, Archive shock relo, and my old Fox 2.5x14s. He's running quite a bit of weight and around ~2-3" of lift, so we ended up doing 5 leafs including an overload from the stock toy pack.

Also played shock stuff on my truck. Old towers were cut/modified a couple times to my liking, so they looked kind've haggard. Cut them off and went with some Barnes towers, which helped tuck the top shock mount closer to the frame so now I'm finally rub free at full flex. Going to touch up the bed holes someday and make some nice covers.
    20220611_220000.jpg
Went through the entire truck, changed every single fluid, fixed a couple things, and reconfigured my bed setup. Still need to make another shock tower brace, but it'll do for now. Ditched the tire swingout since it kept breaking and bending, thus also denting my tailgate. Might recess my license plate into the tailgate to basically cut out the dented portion.
