Tesla has entered the chat.

It’s a Worst vehicle rating list, I didn’t bother to scroll page by page on that scummy Ad site to see what the least worst rated vehicle was or if Tesla was in it.

Just think how fun of a day it was at Bon Voyaged. We (mostly you) doubled their traffic, and now they’re going to be shilling ads for Tacoma enthusiast crap like traction boards and air compressors or whatever because the cookie algorithm tells them that’s who is perusing their listicles. Everyone wins!

That's a landing page. The content is there to get your attention so that you eventually get funneled into a purchase via ads.

Mmmmm .... back in the day, I don't remember that being a real prob. But I could see where it might have been. Thing was, the engines had push rod tubes that ran between the bottom of the block and the head. There was a neoprene O-ring on end of each tube. After many miles they would get hard and brittle. Then crack and leak oil on the exhaust manifold. The fix to that was replacing them with silicone O-rings.
The only other real probs they had, were the early ones had swing axles like a VW bug. Under certain conditions and cornering to fast, a rear axle could fold up and you'd be on your side. They fixed that with the 2 gen by putting a fully independent rear suspension on it.
The other thing was the possibility of getting carbon monoxide inside the car. Since it was an air-cooled engine the heater worked by pulling air through ducting that was connected to form-fitting sheet metal around the cast iron exhaust manifold. If you didn't replace the doughnut gaskets where the exhaust pipe met the manifold every XX (I forget now) miles they could start leaking, or if the manifold developed a crack, you would pull exhaust into the cabin when you ran the heater.
Ralph Nader made a BFD about all this (Way overblown of course) wrote a book called 'Unsafe at any Speed' and that pretty much killed the Corvair.

I have never seen one on fire, I vaguely recall ever seeing one on the road. I could say the same for the International Scout.

I guess it depends on how old you are? LOL! They were fairly popular in the 60's, and I'm old enough to remember it quite well ;)

I could remember my dad having a peugeot 505 diesel back in the 80's. I think that car had more wrong than right with it. I could recall oil leaks everywhere that car parked. This car seemed to be at the dealer more than we had it.

Consumer Reports will deem the new Bronco more reliable that the 6th gen 4Ruuner. No telling what kind of problems a new generation turbo charged Toyota platform will have built on an all new assembly line built in Mexico. Nothing wrong with any of that, but it does not sound like a recipe for good ole'fashioned QDR.

    oh and lets not forget

    just in 5k miles.
    https://www.motortrend.com/features/ecodiesel-wrangler-report-2/

" In our first report, the "Service 4WD" message was displayed when traveling at moderate speeds along dusty tracks. Though the problem was short-lived and tended to disappear after the Jeep was washed, it resurfaced in similar scenarios. Sometimes, the "Service ABS," "Diesel Preheat in Process Please Wait," and "4WD System Unavailable Service Required" messages popped up in quick succession, again, on mild dirt roads. After we powered down the Wrangler and started it again, the messages cleared, and we verified four-wheel drive was functional before proceeding."

I personally would love to have a diesel wrangler, but there is no way I would get one until it's been around and proves it's reliability for at least 5 to 6 years.

There are so many of these things out there. Most written as if English is not the first language. I no longer read them or rather stopped clicking. Period.
