Well, I've been to a listening panel for a classic rock station in the past, and they pretty much told us attendees that the concern they have is people will change the station if they hear something they don't like. So they occasionally perform surveys to generate their playlists, and pretty much it's the songs most people can agree to, which is why the playlists seem short...

It's all about preventing listeners from hitting the pre-sets... If a station goes deep(er) and play something that may seem off, they run the risk of losing listeners.

Still have and use em. Told my nephew when he was 9-10 and asking how I learned about cars that's what I did. He almost fell over when I said I didn't use the Internet because it wasn't a thing back then.

Radio stations needn't worry about this old character and pre-sets. Since I discovered mp3's, self recorded CD's, mp3 players and then iPhone via Bluetooth (great name) I haven't listen to music radio for years. They ran me off years ago, they work to please everyone with surveyed music, they bore me.

Anybody still have their POW-MIA bracelet?

I still have mine from when my uncle was shot down over N Vietnam in Feb 1968. I was 10 yrs old.

Marine Corp A-6 Intruder pilot. Spent 5 yrs & 1 month in prison camp. He received a Silver Star as a result of others from the camp telling what a leader he was during those years.

Due to some circumstances in my family, I lived with him for several years when he got back. I can tell you he was a rare man.

If you want to read his story: http://www.veterantributes.org/TributeDetail.php?recordID=771

    Not my uncle, just example:

Very impressive. Sounds like he was a hell've a Marine!
A great guy to have on our side. Cheers for sharing this.

Also, thanks for turning me on to the Veteran Tributes organization.
Speaking of which, you should send them a note pointing out that your Uncles ribbons display is missing his PoW medal.
(That may have been due to HIS choice. My dad hated that they issued him a medal for "being captured". He said that was not in his duty description!)

Your Uncle and I served in some of the same units and same locations - but not at the same time. Too bad for me as I would have truly enjoyed meeting him.

My sis still has an MIA bracelet. I don't recall the name just now though. I too have a bracelet from the VN War, but no name on mine. Was made from artillery casing in Laos. More "trench art" than a remembrance item.

Thanks for reading the info. He was a man's man, a Marines's Marine, and never met anyone who he wouldn't stop and have a laugh with. Leadership came easy. Led his high school basketball team to State champions and never looked back. I went to his retirement at New River, where he was CO. People were shedding tears at his leaving.

You may be right about him not wearing that ribbon. He told me once that even with the years of torture, that I won't describe here due to the nature of it, he felt his wife suffered just as much as he did. First three years there was no word on his status of live/dead. She really had it hard.

I think A few still do though it is more the older ones and a engine powered vehicle.

Not like when I was a Kid Most days I had to strip and get hosed off before being let in the house.

Building bunkers and building dams in the creek.

Full Contact Football with no pads the hits you took and kept on going I can`t recall anyone ever getting hauled off by ambulance .

Then living in Farm country is not like living in the city.

This does not stop them from playing advertisements.

Rember changing the radio station the moment a commercial came on.

I guess I am old fashioned I still do.

I get more out of reading a hard copy then a video.

I think most of it is habit growing up long before the internet.

Why not use the best sources around.

Oh yeah! I remember one time I got ahold of the grass clippers (shears) and cut "roads" for my trucks all over our back yard. After my mama saw it I learned NOT to do THAT again... :annoyed:
