Interesting. I tried to remove the side steps and some other options I didn’t really want as well, but they said if it’s on the build list from Toyota I couldn’t remove it. All these accessories were installed at the southeast land port in Florida. Mine was pre sold as well. That’s cool you were able to do that.

These are the items they did not install....
    Cargo-Bed Light.
    Ball-Mount.
    Premium-Carpet Mat Set.
    Connectivity-Kit.
    Mud-Guards.
    Vehicle-Protection Package:
    Black-Textured Step Tube
    Power-Tailgate Lock.
I would like some of these but I can add them myself for a lot less

They lied to you..... the dealer can make changes prior to the pickup arriving at the port as that is where the extras are added to the truck. Many stealerships don't want to remove the items as that means less profit. I found a dealership that was willing to remove every single addition and my truck arrived with nothing added. Otherwise I would have had a bunch of junk I didn't want such as side steps, mud flaps, toneau cover, etc. essentially $2500 of additional junk.

I guess with the current state of things I’m just happy to have my truck, but it would have been nice to not to have paid for the side steps, mats, extra charging ports and the stupid “Toyoguard Platinum” that the distributor throws on. Of course I can sell the predator steps, but definitely not for the $700 they charged me. Rant over - haha

When i ordered my sr5 i had a similar issue. The dealer told me i had to order the tech packages to get the items i wanted...i couldn't just cherry pick certain ones. I ender up with some things i'm not real crazy for.
Idk what the ''connectivity kit'' is, but there was no power tail gate lock option at the time, but i ended up with the rest of that stuff plus a power sliding back window, and tonneau cover...dealer claimed that stuff was included in the tech packages i needed to take. Maybe different for other regions in the country, idk.

That is good information. It seems like southeast Toyota distributors are squeezing everyone for some extra cash! I don’t even know what Toyoguard is! The best I can tell it gets me two oil changes for $700.

Don't rely on whatever toyota claims to correct as far as frame rust issues. If your in the rust/salt belt, do some type of coating throughout the undercarriage. Cosmoline, or crc works really well on new chassis paint. If this stuff is good enough for new bmw's, merecede's, and our military, it was good enough on my tacoma....and i didn't need to reapply it the following year like the fluid flim type inhibiters.

YES during covid toyota would build certain tacos with certain models that had to have certain options, even down to the color, like silver TRD OR with led and tech pkg, that was the only way to get it, then a month later it changed, seems like they were going to build all these the same way for 6 weeks then move on to another way, like building them in lots, they prob have always done it like that but it was really noticed during all the shortages.........the connect kit is - (Connectivity-Kit includes 3 main components.Dual USB Car Charger to convert your vehicle's 12V power outlet into two 2.4A power sources.2 USB 2.0 cables to support the majority of mobile and tablet devices on the market today) and all this if different in specific regions

Yes it sounds like mine had the same add-ons. I’m fine with the PPF, but the over priced mats, side steps, charging ports and Toyoguard are such a waste of money for me.

Have no idea how the trucks were built during covid. Mine was ordered just 2 months before covid broke loose. I don't think covid was a big problem yet. I have usb ports in my truck, but never use them. There's a bunch of bs this truck has i don't need. I will say the bed lights i like.
