Was out wheeling in the desert and came upon some poor dude who was stuck. Winched him out and he was on his way. He was so thankful and adamant that I take something for my troubles so he gave me two joints. I don't smoke reefer so if any of you are out by the Palm Springs area, you are welcome to them. Can't vouch for the quality though :D

Good karma coming your way man!:bananadance:

Also, you haven't had to use the winch to recover your taco, and that's good.

This is true. Another lesson I've learned - winches out in the desert are often not too helpful for self recovery. No trees! Only time I've gotten stuck out here in this rig is after a rain storm in some mud. There was no way to hook the winch up to anything, so just used my maxtrax.

If you find yourself in need with no anchor point, you could consider a ground anchor like the one below. Pricey, but if you need it? I don't have one, we have trees everywhere here in Louisiana.

Maybe the joints were the reason he was stuck?

    You're a good man!

Years ago, I had a friend with a 4x2 Ranger that also got stuck in the desert. He had to walk out and talk a tow truck driver into driving in after him.

Lots of people go out unprepared. 2 wheel drive, no recovery tools, no backup plan. I was there once and had been rescued myself by a couple of guys in a jeep so I try not to judge too harshly. I'll never forget the gratitude I had so I always try to pay it forward
