May I ask if the gold tape has any insulation on the backside or is it just tinfoil, gold tinfoil?
Also may I ask where you’re got the "PTP lave wrap?
I found some gold insulation tape / covering with velcro in a few sizes on Amazon.

This is the reflective gold tape I used. Good for up to 500*F continuous operating temps. I am not sure how it’s made up, but it feels like some quality stuff.

Ok, one more question what size did you use around the AC lines?
Oh, in case you didn’t know this is what the gentleman who purchased our 2015 did with it. God I wish I had the funds for this kind of stuff!

 

1/2” on the small ac line and 3/4” on the big one. Then near the firewall on those plastic clamps, I wrapped that with some 2” wide exhaust wrap of the same flavor. Tied it all in place with stainless zip ties from harbor freight

 

A little more progress. Wrapped the main wire loom and a few accessories as well. Also ditched the stock wire loom plastic clips and moved the loom up above the bracket that holds them. Still have some minor stuff to rework but I’m stoked to have the vacuum lines and everything tucked away


All back together and ready for daily driver duty

 

I was going to mention that about the loom clip. Nice and tidy now.

hey what are your thoughts on wrapping the down pipe? Worthy upgrade, or likely to cause corrosion issues later down the road? Ceramic coating is an option too I suppose

 

Sir, that’s a very good question! From what I read & understand wrapping exhaust is a Love Hate relationship!
Love it because if done nice & tidy looks cool and the best way to keep the heat where it belongs.
Hate it because it causes issues with the tubing especially if it gets wet.
But isn’t good Stainless Steel not suppose to corrode? Maybe because of the moisture and high heat.

Got the catch can plumbed to the sc setup and no vacuum leaks. Very happy with the final product

 

Something is off.....I don't see a turbo in there.....

 

Should be happening pretty soon. I am going to build a hot side charge pipe vs modifying the urd one, but that’s the one big hurdle to overcome

Actually going to give aluminum a try to see if I can learn that on the tig. It will probably be redone once I improve but it’ll be a good project to get my feet wet. I’ll be in touch for some pointers soon

 

Downpipe is finished. Got O2 bungs added to that and the mid pipe and also built a hanger for the midpipe. All that needs to be finished is welding up the rear v-band flange, but final fit went well.

 

Now I really want to see how your system performs compared to the Magnuson 2TR. With the ~7psi spring in yours.

 

I bet turbo w/ intercooler @ 7 lbs runs better than supercharger W/O intercooler @ 10 lbs.

But I’m still looking really hard at a LT 5.3 direct injection L83 w/ a Tremec 5 speed.
Besides my wife said if I sold one of the Taco’s I could. So maybe the guy insisting on just giving him a price for our 15 just might just pay off…
