I pulled this off the C4 website. I run a warehouse and have never heard of this type of shipping. It doesnt say much for them. They should be offering you a choice of shipping options for delivery to your house. They know what they are shipping and how to do it directly to you. I had a riding lawn mower delivered to my house with a regular freight carrier. That weighed a lot more than your bumper. I didnt run into this. Is this prepaid or collect? I think they dont want to deal with service charges for residential deliveries and would rather let you pick it up somewhere and get stuck with the additional charges.

    FREIGHT SHIPMENTS

Large items like full size front and rear bumpers and rock sliders ship to the freight hub nearest the customers residential address, unless a commercial address is provided in which case product can be sent directly to the commercial address. Please specify business name in the shipping address section of the order form so that we know it is a commercial address. IF A BUSINESS NAME IS NOT SUPPLIED, THE SHIPMENT WILL BE SENT TO THE NEAREST FREIGHT HUB. C4 FAB LLC WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY STORAGE FEES ASSOCIATED WITH FREIGHT SHIPMENTS IF THE CUSTOMER CANNOT PICK UP THEIR SHIPMENT FROM THE FREIGHT HUB WITHIN TWO DAYS OF DELIVERY. C4 DOES NOT APPROVE THE USE OF A LIFT GATE OR ANY OTHER ACCESSORIAL ITEMS AT THE TIME OF DELIVERY, C4 WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR SUCH COSTS. Customer must provide a forklift or other means of removing their shipment from the truck when it is delivered to a commercial address.

I used Greyhound bus freight to send a full set of subaru rally skids and it was super cost effective but the receiver has to go to the bus terminal to pick it up.

Just have them ship to LTL hub, I'm in FL so i dont know the carriers there... but we have south eastern freight, ABF, etc... I often times have them hold deliveries for my company at the shipping hub and i just go pick them up. I have no idea how that's scheduled or why they do that though.

I had a bumper delivered via UPS Freight, went to their yard and it was forked into my truck. They are saving you a few dollars in shipping costs and adding a ridiculous amount of hassle

I work for an LTL (less than trailer load) carrier. Part of the problem with residential deliveries is that it can be difficult if not impossible to get a semi into (or back out of) some residential neighborhoods. Most people have no idea what it takes to get a semi into/out of an area. Then, if the consignee isn't home or can't meet you in a reasonable time, the shipment goes back to the terminal for re-delivery the next day, which can incur additional charges. Then there is liftgate service, which is additional. We won't drop something in front of your garage without a signature, if the item goes missing, we are on the hook because we have no way to prove the item was delivered.

Twice this week, we had people come to the yard and pick up their items. I believe our terminal will do this from 6AM to 6 or 7PM. Seems this was more convenient to the consignees. Most terminals in your area probably don't have a large service area, so you may not have to travel too far.

I would suggest trying to schedule a freight pickup from your end but then you would have to set up an account, which may not be worth the hassle on your end. The shipper may get a better rate also if they ship frequently with a certain carrier.

As for carriers, ABF, XPO, Fedex Freight, Old Dominion, T-Force all likely are in your area. Trying to think of others...

Do these freight centers charge additional fees? Would I need to setup the delivery in advance? Thanks for the info

I bought a 150? pound archery target and had it shipped freight to my local Fastenal last year. Rate was pretty good.

I'm pretty sure we didn't charge extra. Having the pickup setup in advance would help. Knowing a couple of hour window would help the dock guys get you in and out much faster. It can get pretty crazy at times loading/unloading trucks, keeping freight moving.

I'm in Canada and bought a Body Armour rear bumper with free shipping in the USA. I had it shipped to the closest UPS store then drove across the boarder, a whole 45 minute drive. Was well worth my time to pick it up. It would have cost a lot more in Canada, and much more to ship it to Canada.

    No brainer!

Bought some sliders from r4t, and they used TForce Freight thru UPS freight. They called me if it was residential or commerial. I'm residential.

Delivered to the curb and I had to pull their jack pallet up my driveway to the garage because they are not liiable for driveway damages. The delivery guy helped me push it up though.

When I got it from them back in 2020, shipping was $200 and it was delivered to a FedEx location (big center, not a store) near me (Otay Mesa). I believe they contacted me to confirm which center I preferred.

Well I didn’t have to pay anything extra besides C4’s $200 shipping cost. I understand that now they offer free shipping, so really you should be set. At the FedEx freight I didn’t pay anything.
