50+ thread

Spent all day yesterday with my wife going thru all of the belongings in her mothers house. 50+ years worth. We had to put her mom in a nursing home, she has early onset dementia. It was pretty rough. The basement had had water infiltration for god know how long so it was a mess. We sold the house to a developer; just the land since the house is a total loss. We have until the 17th to get the stuff my wife wants; the developer is clearing out everything that’s left. The sale goes into a fund that pays for the nursing home. Cheapest out of pocket we found was 12k a month. We’re exploring having an in-law suite at our next house for her mom.

One interesting thing we came across was auto mechanic tests her dad had taken in the early 70s; you’d take the tests on a card then you’d mail it to the testing place and they’d return it with your score. Must’ve been over a hundred of these things, along with all of the books and many auto repair manuals from the late 60s early 70s. It was a treasure trove but 99% of them were water damaged and had mold on them.

Good morning all, it was nice last night at 53° with the window open and the ceiling fan going. I have to find the motivation to go outside and start stacking firewood. I'm still so sore from yesterday it hurts to move. I go back to work tomorrow, it should be interesting as I had a good job offer on Friday going back to design and CAM programming. Once I get the offer letter ( hopefully tomorrow) I will give them a 2 week notice.

Cat alarm went off at 0411. He was happy to see me home.

Just woke up, can't think straight, wife is asking a million questions she has been saving up all week.

I'm just staring at her.

Afternoon everyone, had my truck serviced Friday, 60,000. mi. So I cleaned my truck pretty good and actually detailed the wheels. I know it will rain soon, it always does.

But it always runs so much better when clean.
