Thankfully everything turned out fine, let’s think about the fuel tank this was basically burning on top of. The results could have been catastrophic.

I once parked in this high grassy field with my tundra when i went fishing. While i was unloading my cooler, and fishing year to walk down to this lake, i smelt something like leaves burning with some smoke rising form the sides of my truck. I had a small fire under the truck by the cats. I jumped in the truck, and move it to safer spot, then went back to stamp out the fire before it got out of control.

they gave me a brand new nissan titan platinum reserve with 50 miles on it as my rental....they rented all the normal trucks so they gave me something off their "corporate/commercial" account. truck is ridiculous. so massive and so much power. still prefer my tacoma. last night at work, with idling, i averaged 11.9 mpg...

got my truck back and everything looks good. I had a bunch of scratches in my rear glass and they replaced that due to the fire (didn't see any damage but i guess fire weakens glass) so that's a plus. they also replaced the rear trim panel between cab/bed as the interior insulation melted.

now i just need a good fire extinguisher and mount. any recommendations? seems like fire extinguishers are like 30-40 bucks or $300. don't really want to pay $300 for something I hopefully will never use.

I put some "element" fire extinguisher sticks behind the backseats, never had to use them but assuming they work theyre a lot less bulky (albeit 75 bucks each)

Same, but that's usually something like a plastic bag that I don't want in my radiator. Never even thought of it catching fire elsewhere.

That's crazy scary, and glad to hear it got replaced! Also good call to get and keep a small extinguisher, for many reasons.

was washing the truck this weekend and noticed an issue with the rear glass installation. the weather seal isn't sitting flush. guess i will have to take it back to the shop. looks like they used too much sealant or whatever they use to glue the glass and it expanded when drying. anyone have experience with glass? will this leak until i can get it fixed?
