Interesting how the non-OEM looks shorter.

And the fact they sent you the 4Runner skid plate and let you keep it while sending the correct skid plate is awesome! You even sold the 4Runner plate!

All worked out for you and even gives ideas to others. Perfect!

Well, after a few holiday hiccups with Fedex my skid plate arrived today. Unfortunately, the hardware envelope had everything except for the four spacers. I have a message into Lone Star Auto Parts (the Amazon seller) about that...

I installed one of these over the holidays. Painted mine a dark gray and it mounted up no issues. I'm one of those less more guy that doesn't like the TRD stuff all over the truck so this was perfect. Would definitely recommend to my buddy.

I've had mine on for 3-4 months. It's awesome. But it was a bitch to put on. And oil changes aren't awful with it

I got busy and forgot to post this in regards to my missing hardware issue. Lone Star got back to me within a couple of hours and Fedex'd out a new bag of hardware to me via Second Day Air. So all good. Now I just need to get around to installing it.

Has anyone taken any sort of hits on their imposter skid? I just bought one, haven't put it on yet... waiting for the road salt to go away. Mine was delivered with a bent corner on the front lip which I was able to bend back with a good bit of force and a pair of vicegrips - which made me curious. I'm sure its not the same alloy as the TRD skid but wondering if it's "good enough" for what it is. Not expecting this to be a rock crawling plate but near just as good as the toyota one

The instructions for both this skid and the OEM skid say to use them. So, I did. YMMV...

yeh true. I just know a lot of people didn’t get the spacers with the imposter moreso and installed without so was curious

Did anyone have to use a tap-and-die set to re-thread the small bolts for the back of the skid? Would anyone know what that threading is? #rustbeltproblems

could probably just use some blaster and a thread chaser. I think those were 10mm but not sure thread size

I ordered one last week (May 18th) and I received it on Monday (May 23rd). The skid plate is made in China and only comes primed, very poor packaging and it looked like it was dragged some of the way to my house. It also was dropped once or twice and had a dent in the right front corner. I shipped it back and buyer beware they will dock you $40 for a return fee. I ordered the real McCoy from my local Toyota dealer which I received overnight and it cost me $357

Wish I never would have ordered the China junk.

Thanks for the recent review... I may just give in and get the OEM as well. I want a lighter full coverage skid (so aluminum). The RCI one I have does not cover/deflect from the front LCA adjustment bolts and this and the OEM do, so that's why I'm switching over.
