    I'd hit the rusty areas with a metal wire brush, then some Rust-Oleum rattle can rust converter, and lastly Rust-Oleum rattle can stops rust.

    If you're real lazy just hit it with fluid film/woolwax it'll take care of it, reapply every year and be done

    Fluid flim goes on making the chassis look prettier, but it doesn't last as long as cosmoline.
