the past couple weeks have been quite unreal.
Besides excessive unanticipated travel for work, one of my good friends and coworkers is going through a tragedy - her daughter and boyfriend were hit by a texting driver while on a motorcycle ride and both of them are dealing with life-changing trauma.
We’ve been doing everything we can as a HD family to help her out.
Fortunately we’ve been able to raise nearly 20K and will have the HD Homer Fund match $5K
My friend has been off now on paid LOA and is taking care of her young granddaughter through all this mess. Her daughter and the boyfriend survived the accident but will now be dealing with how to move on with their lives with both of them losing their left legs.
Unbelievable ordeal that she’s going through.
Thank God for this amazing work family we have that’s allowed her to take care of them.

I realized today when @MTgirl shot me a text that I hadn’t even logged in to TW in quite some time. Very unlike me because I’m usually on daily to check in on a few threads if nothing else.

For those in the current batch: the outer surrounds are out for paint at the body shop and the mesh is at the powder coating company. Both are quite swamped with work but I anticipate having all the components back to assemble in a week or two.

Thanks again for the text @MTgirl! I’ve been a bit spaced out the past few weeks.

Due to my new schedule I think moving forward I’ll be reducing the number of grills I take on in a batch. I don’t feel it’s fair to have y’all wait so long to get them!

I’ll have time this coming weekend to address PM’s - just saw I have 21 of them in my inbox!

 

I've wanted a motorcycle my entire life. The feeling of being on two wheels on the open road is unlike anything else. It's stories like these that keep me off of them. I've known so many people who have either died, or have had serious injury brought to them by idiot drivers on the road. I'm so sorry for this happening to people you know. We all appreciate the work you do, and although I don't have an order with you currently, I think we'd all understand any amount of time you need to take off.

 

I believe that I hit a pothole and it caused the outer shell of my grille to pop out; I sent you a PM with pictures. Is there anything you can do to fix?

 

I have 2 friends that lost half of their right legs and both are doing exceptionally well. 1 of them is (still) the best off road 3 wheeler rider I've ever seen. Not that it's worth it but losing that half of a leg made them both home owners instead of renters from the settlement.

As one of those PM's, let me just say take whatever time you need. I imagine that's hard to be going through, on top of the extra work travel. Take care of your people first, all this grill stuff can for sure wait.
