"The Battle of Blair Mountain" was also a book about our country failing to learn from mistakes we've already made.

Starting "1776" by David McCullough. Hopefully it's less depressing.

1776 is good, I enjoy David McCullough’s writing. I have a few more of his books as well.

"Thomas Jefferson: The Art of Power", John Meecham.

I got a "KOBO" e-reader, I hate Jeff Bezos. And Libby is great, Mrs JGO and I got them at the start of the great lockdown and, of course, libraries became "non-essential. So, checkout by internet was the answer.

Westerly Gales by EC Williams. Kind of a post-apocalyptic setting where most of the world has fallen into collapse, and after several hundred years, the main civilization is based around the Kerguelen islands, in the southern Indian Ocean. And the main mode of transportation is the 3 masted schooner. So kind of a mash-up between Master and Commander/Horation Hornblower and Mad Max. 4 book series.

I started this a while back but only read one chapter. I just started over since it’s been such a long time.
I picked it up at the local art museum, it’s a signed copy. I thought that was pretty cool.

I finished Book 14 of Dragon Heart by Kirill Klevansky and am now reading He Who Fights With Monsters by Travis Deverell. It's hilarious. The main character is an Australian who gets accidently summoned to another world. He's quite the character.
"Jason wakes up in a mysterious world of magic and monsters.

It’s not easy making the career jump from office-supplies-store middle manager to heroic interdimensional adventurer. At least, Jason tries to be heroic, but it's hard to be good when all your powers are evil.

He’ll face off against cannibals, cultists, wizards, monsters...and that’s just on the first day. He’s going to need courage, he’s going to need wit, and he’s going to need some magic powers of his own. But first, he’s going to need pants."

Found a couple of good books at the thrift shop today.

The Merchant of Venice published in 1893, it’s in decent shape for 129 years old.

Last read Killer Show by John Barylick. This is about the Station nightclub fire in 2003. Lots have been written but this one was very close and true to fact. Still chills me.

More recently a couple of books by Ken Uston, the famous blackjack player.

I noticed the other book in your post. "Extremism in defense of liberty is no vice. Moderation in pursuit of justice is no virtue." I read "Conscience of a Conservative" in 1964 going into the Johnson-Goldwater election, fortunately I was no longer under my father's roof at the time.

I’d like to get a hard copy of it eventually, I have the Conscience of a Conservative audiobook. I’ve also got his 1964 RNC address on tape.

We’ll first off, it’s Bruce Campbell so, you’re forgiven. I really like audiobooks.
Is it Bruce Campbell actually reading it?

I downloaded The Brothers Karamazov by Dostoevsky. I'm making very slow progress, lol. I read Crime and Punishment and it made me want to read more of his work.

Picked up a few more good ones, the Tony Horwitz is supposed to be humorous, we’ll see.
