You can check the Performance & Tuning section for more specific info, but I don't think CAI is going to do much for ya. I'm planning to do the cowl induction mod later but more for reclaiming engine bay space / better for water crossings (maybe).

Just picked up another 2010 with 120kmi.... working through the regular stuff.... pulled the plugs, original as expected, NGKs gapped .065, Densos .060. Truck ran fine with them, runs finer now with new ones. Why anyone would think whoever leaves their pugs in longest wins is is a real head scratcher.

Like running the gas gauge past 'E'...some of us just like to live on the edge.

All good ideas at that age. Since you had original plugs, it's not a stretch to surmise the other items you addressed weren't done often or ever.

Re the CAI, nope. If you want to do anything like that maybe the AFE dry drop in air filter, I say that because it doesn't use oil like the K+N system for instance.

Unless you don't have the physical ability or space, or you are making that much money that it's more worth it to pay someone.

I'll give you the disability excuse. Space? No it doesn't require more space to replace spark plugs than it does to park the truck. Hey if you know someone that likes to throw away money let me know and I'll send them my mailing address.

I did mine in the fall a couple of years ago. If it was cold weather season and it had to get done right then, space (such as a garage to work in) could be a factor is where I was going there

Something I’ve never had to deal with personally, some home owners association’s and condos don’t allow you to work on your vehicle.

Another excuse would be time. When I had an executive job I wouldn’t bat an eye at overpaying someone to do something I could do myself if it saved me some time.

Still, it’s never a good idea to not take care of preventative maintenance.

If I had to venture a guess, your performance increase wasn't due to your switch to iridium plugs, but replacing extremely worn plugs with new ones. Toyota recommends changing the stock plugs every 30K miles. I know that's overkill, but dang you waited a long time to swap those...lol

When I run into this problem I stop and get out the penetrating oil. I spray some penetrating oil down the hole on the plug and let it sit for a bit, then work it back and forth until it frees up. So far it's never failed me, I've always been able to get the plug out without damaging or stripping the threads.

I was able to plan mine for a decent enough day outside. If something HAS to be done immediately and it's raining or cold weather that's another story for me, as my garage door is way too low to get the truck inside. I ran into this a while back when my battery croaked suddenly though at least I was able to boost it with my pack and drive to my parents' house to do it

I understand. Planning is the key.

That is why I would never live in a area with an HOA or a Condo.
I do enjoy my freedom to do as I see fit and not have to ask Mother may I for everything.
I do feel bad for those that are trapped into such horrible rules.

Time: Again maintenance comes down to planning. I could see an unexpected mechanical failure causing problems with time, planning, cost and such. I overpaid for repairs when my A/C System developed a leak in the middle of the summer... It was fukin HOT! :D
