2nd Gen, dumb question but y’all are the experts.

Hey guys, my friend has a 15 OR. I noticed he has a button for RR DIFF LOCK, and his manual isn’t in the truck and I couldn’t google the answer.

Do the 2nd Gen TRD OR all come standard as 4x4 or is it bought as an option how the 3rd Gen is? He was thinking about selling it, but I told him to hold off.

 

ORs come factory with a rear e-locker. that option was bought with the OR package.

 

It was only offered on TRD Offroads (and maybe the 2015 TRD Pro?).

As far as holding onto it, I agree. The 2015 was a well sorted truck. The 3rd gens are nice, but the engine trans combination is better fitted on the 2nd gens. I own both, there's pros and cons to each, but if the 2015 is in good shape, keep it!

 

In response to your 4x4 question: it was possible to get the OR trim on the 2WD Prerunners as well, which would come with the diff lock.

does this mean his is 4x4 then? I guess the 3G bed stickers make it easier to distinguish

 

Ahh. I see. So should there be a selector for different 4x4 modes then, if it is 4x4?

 

Correct, should be a dial to the right of the ignition, below the air vent that switches from 2H-4H-4L.

 

No it doesn’t mean he is 4x4. Like mentioned above some trim come as 2x4 (prerunner). Check the front to see if it has CV boots or inside for a 4H/4L switch.
