Treadwright.com - Looks like cheap BFG KOs

I drive though Hot Spring, SD about 4 times a year! I might have to stop and get a set or two the next time I am in the neighborhood.

Should have no problems fitting one in the spare spot. I've got one in there.

 

Damn, I wish I had known about that code! Oh well, still a good deal.

That looks so.....weird. BFG lettering with a Goodyear pattern. Hmmmm well good luck with them!

 

That would be my intended bump up size tires as well... anxious to see them on the truck. You'll be posting pics yes?

they are some cool lookin tires though! chilidogrc, make sure you post pics when you get them mounted!

 

I was thinking of mounting them with the white lettering out just to mess with people!

do you get to choose the logo you want on the tire?

 

You can request the "correct" sidewalls that will "match" the tread.

ie. I asked for BFG AT sidewalls for all 4 and I got them.

 

I researched the crap out of these tires. Was considering them. I have read nothing but good about them from anyone who has ever actually owned then. They all say their customer service is top notch as well. They are DOT approved. Hell, they retread aircraft tires several times. Only negative I have ever heard from people anywhere, all comes from people with no first hand experience.

 

Here were my 285/70/17 BFG AT Look-a-likes:

 

I drive to San Antonio every once in a while. How safe would you think these would be at constant highway speeds. Like 75-80ish mph?

I want to pull the trigger on a set, but that's my main concern.

 

from what i've read online, they do fine at highway speeds.

 

I'm driving to Angel Fire, NM from Austin, TX next week. The limit is 85mph in West Texas. I'll let you guys know if I live.

 

They're probably OK. But people have a long memory. I remember the summer of 1970 and the trip from Colorado to Indiana I was going to take with mom in a '64 dodge (push button automatic, baby!) , to visit dad who was away at IU at graduate school.



We got a little outside of town and had to stop when we heard a nasty loud flapping that turned out to be the tread separating from the casing on the "retreads." We put on the spare and then returned to town. We cancelled our trip because we didn't want to risk taking the trip on questionable tires with no spare.

Now, that's been a long time ago, and technology has changed a lot. I won't say anything against Treadwrights because, as you say, I don't have any first hand experience with them.

But I'm not going to be the guy to try them out, either.
