If it's a real vin, it could mean the dealer has marked it sold. Happened to me, and the dealer sent a photo of the truck with a SOLD sign in the window. If it's a temp vin, then it means it was just built and now you need to get the real vin from the dealer.

Just means it was finally built. You'll need to get the new VIN.

Update. Getting my money back if I removed the reviews. Finally got a copy of the paperwork too.
Still will be giving all the information to the state attorney general which has been on a campaign against auto dealers (highest volume complaint in our state).

Thank you so much. I find it insane that it went back to A spec. It must have to do with my dealer being acquired and renamed last week... so odd.

I disagree with that and find it to be somewhat dishonest. Like : "OK, we were wrong, and you caught us, but no one else can know we were wrong and you can't tell anyone either, that way we can keep doing it to others that won't fight back."

Anyone else find this entire exchange to be rather shady by the dealership? I'm glad that @Kronk_OR is getting the money back, just disagree with the blackmail aspect by the dealer.

Yup, it's pretty shady. Is there any reason you can't add that review back after you get the money back? I'd definitely be tempted to do that. I never trusted the dealerships which is why I paid with a card that I could dispute for 120 days just in case. Obviously hindsight is better, just wish @Kronk_OR didn't have to go through all of this.

My truck is due to be built tomorrow, when should I request the VIN # from the dealer?

Been a 1 car household with a Outback for 3 years now. It was "doable" when we lived in the big town in the area but now that we're out of town the stress is really getting to us.
Having to wait 6 months for our taco has been a royal PITA but at least there is light at the end of this tunnel now.

In my case I ended up waiting a week and my dealer still didn't give me the VIN, thanks to the good folks here I just found it on my own thanks to Toyota's automated system putting the dealerships shipments directly onto their website and my order being a pretty unique one.

    Itz JDM tyte, yo!
From my experience, I had my name down for a manual Lunar Rock TRD Off-Road non premium tech package since January and my original dealer never got it. I then moved on to a white manual TRD Off-Road without any options except the LED Headlights with another dealership I put my name down a few months later (he said he will call me regardless of the color).

I did see some 6MT Lunar Rock TRD Off-Road shipped without an order on it to the East Coast. So I guess it depends on your dealer and the location.

I don't see why he can't just add it back after he gets his money. Not like he signed anything saying he couldn't add a NEW review, just they wanted him to take down the old one. And once he gets his money back, they have no leverage.
I'm sure they could try to claim defamation or slander but if he kept a paper trail, they are just all bark no bite. They could also try to go to court over it, but again if he has paperwork illustrating everything he can simply go "Yeah, I got evidence, I WILL take a day off work for this, and you will have to pay damages for a lost day of my work plus having to get an attorney on retainer." I bet they'll shut up soon then.

    Good info!! Thank you sir.
I’m in East TN. The dealer said they receive the highest allotment in my area, not sure how factual that is though.

I’m preparing for a long wait.
