My short experience with mullet makes me kind of want to try it on the Evo - I just don't want to invest in it. Being on a 29er so long makes you forget that you can get your ass so much lower over a smaller wheel.

Yep! 1.5ish days out, 5.5ish in Canada, and 2 days back. Lots of seat time indeed, and about 3,500mi round trip. I'd like to do something similar next year, maybe with more of a focus on Pemberton, Squamish, and N. Van or possibly the Penticton and Kelowna areas.

Pretty crazy that even at $5/gal for gas ($1000+ for the trip) it's still way cheaper to road trip and camp like that than fly, ship/rent bikes, car, lodging, etc. Awesome trip! I'm way closer to that area than you and still haven't pulled it off. With a little one now in tow it might take me a bit longer to do it now too.

Never been much of ass smacker on the 29derp. I was mostly curious to see if it makes turning it easier/more playful. Taking it for a rip later, will post up.

I know, gas was painful. It went up $0.50/gal at home over the 9 days I was gone, so I have to assume it followed similar suit everywhere else. That said, the cost split between my GF and I made it a lot easier to stomach, but ~$3/gal would have been sweet. I think between gas, groceries, and some eating out/craft beer we spent ~$1,500 combined over the 9 days. Not an insignificant amount of money, but pretty solid in my opinion for a 9 day vacation for two.

I would think a lower BB and short chainstays would accomplish the same thing as the smaller rear wheel in that respect.
All my shorts/pants have tire marks on em  Increased clearance is the big draw for me.

I don’t buzz, but the clearance is still noticeable.

Evo teaser since I’m waiting on a ton of parts, but I guess it’s a dealer exclusive frameset that doesn’t have many pics online. It’s like a matte blue/black splatter.

To some extent yes. Came off my last trailbike that had 432mm CS to my new one that has 445mm, and a crazy 453mm on my ebike. I gotta say I definitely prefer the longer rear ends for the fast trails here. They're a bit less snappy though the real tight stuff but carry the speed and keep you going forward rather than slashing it off with more predictability when does go. They're not as easy to get up into a manual, just gotta yank a bit harder. If I was just doing cutties all day yea gimme small wheel, super short 420cs, and ultra low BB. For hunting koms I want pedal clearance and stability.

My bike is setup mullet with 450cc. Almost never tap my ass.

but my long 1251 WB and 63.5 head tube angle make tight switch backs hard:anonymous:

Haha! My daughter hits 6 months next week, and I have been looking at balance bikes since.... about a year ago.

I follow acoustic cycles on instagram. He makes some cool ones that cost about $1500. lol. I've been kicking around the idea of building her one myself, but i just can't see where I could find the time. You know, with the 6 month old baby in the house.

Random giant rock on Maple Hollow. Flew up from front wheel, smashed my chainring, continued on to smash the derailleur. Weird shit happens sometimes.
Sucks, the derailleur was new, and the chainring was an AB oval. :censored:

I've got a 30t round ring you can have. Can't help you on the derailleur though.

shit! I hate hearing rando rocks kicking up and hitting my bike. I always hear it and say, "damn rock!". Glad it didn't bust the frame though, I've seen that before.
