Congrats on the .22 but...dude, a .22 in not good for protection. Most experts agree that a self defense gun should be at a minimum 30 caliber like a .38.

That's a cool holster. I don't think that position would work for me but it looks like it works for you.

I'm not getting where you needed our help to find a handgun.

    You mentioned that you:
    -Wanted a Compact
    -Wanted a Glock
    -Wanted a 9mm

Which means you want a Glock 19... The same handgun I have and love.

I open carry when going to the range (in the winter I conceal it under a jacket if I can), otherwise it's in my Galco Tuck-N-Go holster. It holds 15+1 and particularly with HPs packs a very formidable punch. The recoil is not bad at all and it is not incredibly heavy either. Local gun stores should have a 19 to show you.

If your main reason for the gun is for concealed carry I would look at a LCP as well or another similar pocket pistol. I have lots of handguns, but the hassle of messing with big holsters kept me from always carrying, which defeats the purpose of having a CCW if you never have it with you.

Now that I have the LCP, I carry inside my pocket(in a holster) 100% of the time. Even a .380 is better than nothing.

If you want an all purpose gun, then starting off with a 9mm is a good choice and a Glock or MP series would be a great choice IMO.

How does the magazine foot not print?? I've got my supertuck damn near buried in my waist band and still don't feel it's as concealed as I would like.

    Everyone's entitled to my opinion:

I like the reliability of double action revolvers. They always go bang even if they are dirty or neglected. The hammer isn't cocked back under spring pressure. There isn't a safety to mess around with in a panic situation. If there's a dead round just pull the trigger again. The fact that a conceal carry revolver will only have 5 rounds isn't important to me. Stats show that most of the time just pulling out a gun in a life threatening situation is enough. One shot is going to stop 90% of the BG's. If you need more that 5 shots you are already in over your head. One disadvantage is that they are a little wider than a .380 or compact 9mm.

I use a S&W 642-2 w/Crimson Trace laser. I carry Gold Dot .38+P Short Barrel 125 gr. Personal Defense rounds. I think having a red dot on your chest would make someone think twice. You're not going to miss at 25 feet or less. If more than 25 feet your life probably, and I mean probably, isn't threatened and you would have a tough time proving it in court.

Funny.....seems a lot of the books I've read often recommends wheel guns for women because they're easier to handle and easier on the recoil.

OK first off you must have never fired a small frame high power revolver.Try shooting 168 grain hydra shock 357 mag out of a 2 1/4, 25 ounce firearm without using your entire hand

Also the recoil while using an automatic pistol is used to eject the spent casing. With a revolver it is defected through the frame into your hand.

Until someone offers a small frame auto in 357 mag or 45 colt then I will stick to wheel guns
