Not sure if it’s been covered already, I follow this person on IG. Took a screen shot of her post explaining what happened to her taco at 150k miles. Seems like one of the valves failed, along with the transfer case.

150k miles of constant abuse is pretty good, but definitely expected a bit more though. I believe I’ve seen a few with valve issues and there’s also a few that have grenaded at an incline. As the tacos age, it’ll be interesting to see what failures become a common issue for those that wheel their rig.

Might be getting too old for this.
My truck needed all the valves and a head replaced at 26.5K, under warranty of course. At around 41K, lost an O2 sensor on the same side the head was replaced on. Toyota couldn't (wouldn't?) blame it on the warranty work so I had to pay out $450.

Made me a bit boo boo lipped since this is my 3rd Tacoma and the first with problems, but I still love her and always will.

    One in my avatar, 2018.

To be fair, only a set of bad valves came up during diagnosis so they pretty much replaced them all to be safe.
