With no obvious signs, what raised your MPG?

I’ll note the replies. Was it one major thing or a lesser thing you found that did it and were surprised by (beyond the obvious like changing your air filter)?

 

Removed the Thousand pounds of tools and welding cable behind the seats.

When it reaches the top of the seat level it is time to clean house.

As long as the fuel mileage does not drop below 10 mpg I am happy

 

Keep it at 68mph.

And I thought I was bad.

 

I get 16 in the city 17 on the hwy and I always drive 5 over the speed limit. Please dont be that a hole who drives 60 on the fwy just to save 1 mpg

 

My truck got that stock.
Big tires armor gears kiss that goodbye. I get 13mpg if I go 70. If I go 60 65 I can get 15 .
So to the OP. I saw the best mpg by keeping it stock and driving 55 mpg with the ac off. Was the only time I ever saw 20 mpg.

 

The reason I would drive a 100 extra miles to avoid using a Interstate .

Some loads 60 mph was pushing the limits

 

Then I have a Truck most times it was used a 1000 pounds in the bed was normal dragging another 2000 pounds quite often.

 

I stopped driving like a cockface.

Everyone thinks they dont drive like a cockface...but then some of us gain enlightenment through patience.

Going downhill only.

 

Freeing up my intake and exhaust and adding a snorkel gave me some ram air effect (verified by manifold pressure guage) which actually did give me close to 1mpg.

Beyond that I get better milage when I have my camper shell on too.

 

I get better MPG when we take another car somewhere.

 

I've never seen anyone do anything that actually improved fuel mileage other than driving conservatively. Seen lot of stuff that lowered fuel mileage.

 

Going to change out knock sensors soon. We'll see.
