What part of your bed was having issues. I have been running a shell and tent for 2 years and I haven't noticed anything like that. I also have never pulled the shell off since I bought the truck back in '18.

Leveling kit, wheel spacers, personally fabricated modified frame, and some sweet diamond plate to cover up a smashed driver side! Because I was stupid
13529A9E-3154-4317-81A6-963FE6387A70.jpg After getting my truck wet, interior and all I saw a couple roaches! The nasty ones, and my little boys leave candy all over, doesn’t help! I gutted the inside, put a couple foggers in it, burned the carpet, went and got a 5’x7’ anti fatigue mat from Home Depot, a roll off plastic underlayment for floors and made a new interior floor in my truck that’s easy to sweep out! If it gets wet now theres no carpet to soak it up! Also my wife will ride with me again! Its quieter as well, i was worried about that. Its a little dirty in the picture

Congratulations on the truck! Im not sure what years had the issue, my 06 did but check the frame. There was a recall due to rusting out. I didn’t know, I welded stainless angle iron to it to strengthen it up. Hopefully yours doesn’t have that issue.

See this post. It’s also cracked under the plastic bed cap. Don’t have pics of that

OOO Yeah I remember that one. Had me nervous and I ran out to check my truck after reading that post. I don't have any issues yet but I am going to make sure to keep an eye on these spots.

The problem I had was the frame itself “deekyn” , apparently there was a recall. I had no idea. E726E305-D2D5-444B-93FE-9140EE665EBF.jpg

Ouch. Never had my bed off so I hope mine doesn't look like that! living in Mn though and not qualifying for a frame replacement, there is a good chance.

I was looking under it after running through a hole and noticed it! Did some research and found out it was an issue. Luckily it wasn’t bent, i was able to line it with stainless angle iron. They make cookie cutter frame pieces to go on them

My frame looks great and then I removed my gas tank and had the same crap going on.

That’s what mine looked like other places, rust all in it. It looks to me like they put 3 thin frames together with no coating between them. Water gets in there and rusts it out! Poor design.

Exactly!!! I cut some spots out and had some stainless angle and channel iron i welded in there. I don’t really like to weld up frames but what did I have to lose! I think it was 05-06 that had the issue but I might be wrong.

I found out after hitting a hole pretty hard and noticed the top of the leaf springs had pushed the frame up where it attached. Luckily it didn’t fold it up like a lawn chair!

The saddest thing is that my 3rd gen had a frame perforation recall so Toyota apparently has not fixed anything. That recall was the last straw that made me decide to sell it. The 3.5 slug engine and the quirky automatic already had me on the fence. I think that was the 4th recall on top of several TSB repairs on mine that only had 25k miles after 5.5 years. Shame because, mileage wise, that could have been my last truck. Last time I looked the 2008 and 2012 frames looked good. Think its time to crawl underneath and do a more thorough inspection in the areas shown here today.
