It would but I’ll probably get the standard height comfort, it makes getting up on the tank easier which doesn’t matter as much for me right now but eventually will I hope. :p also want to order it in the husky blue.

yeah it was a healthy mix, there were some sections of the dual sport route I couldn’t believe weren’t optional hero sections with how tight and Rocky they were, and there were hero sections that weren’t bad at all. There were also dirt road/gravel sections whre you can barely see the bike in front of you it was so dusty. But then there were also hero sections like the one with the big drop in that were fucking gnarly as hell. The thing that caught me up the most all weekend though were muddy sections, not used to riding in a lot of mud and it was a big learning curve. Overall I plan to do more dual sports because it was a ton of fun. It was a great atmosphere of people helping each other out, testing themselves and just being part of a community. It was also cool to see they added an adventure bike route this year since those bikes have been increasing in popularity but can’t exactly hang on the dual sport terrain.

Sounds like BMW cars as well based on the ones my family own. Either a total warhorse, or inexplicably fragile with no indicator which it'll be.

I unfortunately know from experience how shorts and sandles don’t mix with motorcycles.

got a question for you guys

since i've done a decent amount to my bike, and now want to upgrade...do you think it's worth trying to return the bike to stock as much as possible and selling the parts separately, or should i just sell it as is and hopefully net a higher price?

parts that would be sold separately would include exhaust, rear shock, mirrors. Could maybe get $1000 total for all those parts off the bike. Maybe a couple other small parts

Now that i've typed it out, I'm thinking it might just be easiest to sell the bike with it all on. I've done a lot actually but no telling what might or might not transfer over, I'd imagine most wouldn't. Maybe just ask a higher price since it'll come with all the goodies already done.

    Easiest? Keep as is

Net most Money? Part out and sell, but much more time intensive

Very few people care about YOUR mods, regardless of vehicle, unless they're items like racks, panniers, etc on an ADV bike or mods that are considered somewhat mandatory (like the doohickey on a KLR). You might find someone that'll bite on the higher ask price, but not guaranteed.

Yeah figured as much. I'll probably keep as is because I don't wanna be holding onto parts for who knows how long. If i can get at least what I paid for it, I'll be happy lol.

I tried to part out my last bike and it ended up being a headache. Luckily I had room to store the parts but it still annoying. I did get more money than I would’ve had I traded it in as-is so it was worth it for me. For reference I was still selling parts something like 8 months after selling the bike. That had more to do with my lack of resources and connections to social media so YMMV. I know that much work for some people isn’t worth a few hundred bucks.

I can tell you from my years at a Harley dealership that while they're more than happy to take your money on accessories they don't give much of it back when you trade in.

Sadly just like with our Tacoma's add ons are only worth what someone else will pay for them and that means finding someone who wants the same thing you once wanted. You will get more selling them off separately but what is your time worth and do you have storage space? I've parted out a few bikes I bought just for that purpose or that I needed a couple items and the PO didn't want to do the work. I've won some and lost so. I don't know what the market is like in your area. Look on FB Marketplace and Craigslist and see how things look then go from there.

Figured as much. I am in a few XSR groups where I don't think it'd be too hard to offload parts, but I also don't wanna sit on parts for however long it takes to sell them. Ultimately, I think I've decided I'm gonna enjoy the bike for another year or two before selling.

I really like that 60th anniversary color scheme on the R1's, so I'll just have to wait until some navy guys have bought it, and decided they either can't afford it or can't keep it for other reasons to scoop one up lightly used at a discount.

If you're talking about the XSR, I would recommend listing it high to start with. I listed my 2016 FZ-07 last year for $6500 hoping to get $5500. It sold within a week for $6000 and I had other people interested at the asking price after it was gone. It had yosh exhaust, ermaxx body kit, power commander, full galfer lines, pads and rotors front and rear, levers, frame and front/rear axle sliders, etc. Stock ones were going for about $5k. Someone will pay a little extra for quality mods--especially labor intensive stuff like a rear shock that the average dude doesn't have the experience to install. List it in the XSR and FZ/MT facebook groups. I paid $20 for a cycle trader ad and mine sold quickly.

You shouldn't need to go all the way up to a 6.0, right? Any of the ones you linked should work, I would think.

Well, my mechanic called after texting me this pic from draining the oil -

    Resized_20220607_151947.jpg

Said that was the "least worst" of what he found and that he had never seen so much steel and silicone gasket in an oil sump and filter screen. Engine is FUBAR, no donors to be found for a reasonable price, and rather than pay more than the bike is worth, I told him to put it back together and I'll try to sell "As is" at a significant loss.

Mad at the seller for clearly misleading me but more angry at myself for not being savvy enough. FML! No serious riding this year...
