For that cost + labor, I might as well put it towards a new bike that I wouldn't have to worry about. Mechanic said he'd look around for a wrecked Speed with a salvageable motor, but wasn't too optimistic.

Never lost this much money on a vehicle transaction. It's a real special feeling... :frusty:

Kind of ironic that the seller mentioned believing in "motorcycle karma" re: being honest about any/all issues.

Oh, and yeah, will be keeping the l'il 230 engine that could!

    So...

Just realized I now have tires that I can't use! Anyone need a set of Michelin Pilot Power 2CT tires? 120/70ZR-17 front and 180/55ZR-17 rear.

    $300 + shipping (if necessary)

hone your skills at not crashing 2 min into the trail  And then we can do some exploring once I get these tires on.

@BkerChuck I think I am going to try to mount these tires myself. Youtube is my friend. Plus if I dont get spare tubes, I wouldnt want to get stranded at your house. Id rather get stranded at my house.

Oh, funny guy, aye? Listen, I was a little over-excited and dropped my... bike too soon. Happens to the best of us! :D

Good luck! I found that wearing my armored pants helps keeps my knees from hurting as I hold the tire in place, and a window fan pointed right me because it gets sweaty real quick!

Great to know. I have a lot of what I consider either tasteful, quality, or useful mods done to the bike that I think generally anyone would appreciate. Graves Exhaust, full galfer lines, sintered pads front/rear, adjustable levers, SW Motech crash bars, rear spool sliders, K-Tech Rear shock, Racetech upgraded front fork springs, fork gaiters, upper fork covers, Koso heated grips, Adaptive headlight, helmet hook, fender delete/tail tidy, radiator guard, chain/sprocket replacement, barend mirrors, an upgraded throttle tube, booster plug and a Held Tenda tailbag. Along with a few extra clutch/throttle cables and some of the OEM stuff I kept

Maybe I'll throw some feelers out and see what's what.

No problem, this weekend wouldn't have worked anyway as I have a long ride Friday to Woodstock, GA for a "celebration of life" Saturday for a FJR friend the another long slog home Sunday.

You'll find it helpful to have the tires warm so they're more pliable. Lay them out in the sun while you're taking the old ones off. Use lube too.

Have you tried reaching out to the seller? I get the chances are slim but phone call costs you nothing more than some time.

Really sucks this happened and hope things get better for you.

I've never used it but can't see where it would hurt.

I did, though probably not in the best way. My mechanic reached out to Hermey's Triumph to ask them what their service records show. They did a fair amount of work on it right when the PO bought it, but never had it running long enough to notice there was an issue with the engine. When they solved the electrical problems and the the bike would start, the PO told them to stop working on it and came and picked it up. The PO told me that he was asked them about the knocking and they said it's just a characteristic of the Triumph triple. He also said he'd ridden it close to a thousand miles but the service records show only a 10 mile difference from when I picked it up. So, I complimented him on his fleecing skills and said if he had an attack of conscience, to let me know...:bananadead::mad:

Thanks! Gotta try to focus on positives but... d@mn. People.

That really sucks! Hermy's is reputable and wouldn't have any reason to lie in this.

@Doc Samson sorry to hear about your triumph. Do you have any interest in tearing into the engine to see if you could rebuild it yourself?
