I've always had great luck just sending the TIS installation ID info via email to that Russian dude from MHH I believe and he responds in a day with a full set of activation keys for that version. I posted his email address somewhere on TW in a thread, possibly even this one. He is always friendly and helpful and I always thank him and thank him because you catch more flies with honey...I don't like messing with hacked files either.

All Done! Went super smooth, probably took about 7 minutes total. Engine updated to 4b04 and transmission updated to 4014. I had no issues with Techstream v17. It does give an error when reading the powertrain ECU, but then displays the data.

Good stuff! Thanks for giving it a run.

Not sure I recall seeing an error in the past.

You should notice a nice improvement driving it.

I do not recall getting an error the other night. I was doing the health check immediately after the update and before actually cranking the vehicle. It said basically that an error had occurred and I needed to restart it, but then after clicking on OK, it shows the information pulled from the powertrain ECU. I'm going to hook everything back up this weekend and see if I get the error anymore since I have now driven the truck some. I'll update what happens and also add a screenshot if I get the error again.

Oh. An error in Health Check versus the Update Wizard is very different. Looking forward to the screenshot.

Sorry, should have made that clearer as to exactly where I got the error. I should have time to do a health check tonight and I'll post the error message if it occurs.

So a couple of things. First of all, I've attached the screenshot. It occurs when I do a Health Check, Powertrain ECU only. It reads 4 of 4 and then shows the error. If I click on Exit, it then does display the data from the health check.

My next question is about me using my VFTuner credits to license my VIN number. After I did the Prepare ECM, I clicked on the Read P5 ECM (since it said that Tacoma's used that in the installation instructions). It then told me "This ECU cannot be read through OBD."

Is that normal at this stage? I have not bought my tune yet, but will be probably early next week.

That error looks oddly familiar. I seem to recall seeing it myself? I would certainly not worry about it.

Yeah, don't do that Read ECM step. The only time that you need to use the Read function is if you find an ECU that is not supported by vF.

Just do Prepare, pay the four Credits, Select Calibration File, and Calibrate ECM. Follow the prompts. After cycling the ignition, consider doing the Learned Value Resets:

I recently started getting this on 16.023. I've just ignored it because finding a solution was taking longer than ignoring it.

So I tried to update to the latest TSB and I get a warning saying "Calibration file not authorized... Current TSB is 4B03.

    Any advice?

Are you using the file for 04B04?

I may have overlooked it on here, but is the TechStream download a PC based file only? or is there a mac version also???

Windows only, but it works great on a Mac using Bootcamp. You don't even need to activate Windows for it to work, and there are no security worries with unpatched Windows since you will likely never use it for anything else.
