Psychopathy leads people to strive for roles to where they demand dominion over everyone else. I think it's pretty much just that. It's not money after a certain point, it's just power and neuroticism. Normal people do not seek to acquire billions of dollars and control the world. Normal people want to have a family and live quiet comfortable lives free from fearing if they have to use an ambulance to get a medical treatment taken care of it won't bankrupt them.

Look at it from a very high macro level. We have plenty of resources to ensure that every person gets what they need. But the system is built around the most willing, most rich, and most arrogant stealing what they can get with no regard for everyone else.

If you're born poor and stupid, fuck you, right? Shoulda learned how to stonk.

 

Here's the other bone I have to pick with that argument.

40 years in a GOOD career will do that. Which means: We don't need warehouse laborers, hotel staff, fast food workers, sanitation workers, clerks, retail cashiers, or the person that cleans your hospital bedsheets.

None of those people can work for 40 years on their wages and retire in any way relative to what you or I can. Do we just say, "lol fuck you for being dumb and unmotivated"?

"Well, get educated and get a better job!" is the response to all of that

It's circular logic. If we as a society can't take care of the people that do the shitty jobs that none of us want to do, eventually the services stop.

 

The rest of your post, I'll just say a lot of times wealth is circumstantial. Buffet and Gates don't seem to have any interest in controlling the world. They made stuff that created a ton of value for a ton of people and it just adds up over decades.

This however:

It's a real issue. Our economy is essentially based on knowledge now and intelligence is earning power. We do NOT have a good answer, in the current model, for "how does our society provide a good life to someone not smart enough to be economically valuable?"
