In your state. In my state, you don't need a license to shoot coyotes

Most people will never even ask what their potential is. Those that do reach it still realize there are others who don't even have to try to reach that same level. Just fucking trying goes a long way.

I've climbed for a long time. I probably got to the top 10% of climbers ability wise. I also know and climb with a few of the 1% guys. Even after given it my all I never came close to what those guys can do naturally. It's fucking impressive.

I agree. Luckily, it doesn't. People in the bottom quadrant of means today have a far better circumstance than those of 50 years ago vis a vis basic human needs.

We are so damn rich in this country it only takes a small percentage of the wealth to do so.

And I make more money than you do with an English degree. It's kinda dumb to argue about physical prowess and mental aptitude when I should literally be the guy at the distributor handing you nails since I have a useless degree.

Every one of us in this thread can argue from a point of privilege

So why does 1% of this country own over 50% of the wealth?

Ondras and Sharmas are born, not made. And such is true of much in the world. It is immutable and, I think, better off accepted than mourned.

I've bern a lazy trad dad since I was young. Never climbed anything harder than 5.11 and all my favorite routes are 5.7.

Well, once GTii failed to bring the perpetual energy battery to market, I’ve given up on green energy. They were so close, I could feel it.

Do you live in some interesting mathematical world where 50% = 'all'?

To the question: Because they are *actual* outliers - people with a natural combination of aptitudes and luck so rare that they are able to create so much value for society that society rewards them in exponentially greater fashion than us normies.

And thank goodness, because I do not want to go back to a pre-oil, pre-internet, pre-automobile world.

I'm not arguing from a point of privilege. I'm arguing you can change your privilege by working towards doing exactly that. lol

My favorite climb is a 5.5. Frogs Head at the Gunks. I've climbed that thing well over 100 times. Haven't been on it in 15 years and I can still picture every hold. Maybe I'll go back east this fall and give the wife the grand east coast tour. Fuck. That's gonna take at least 3 months. Might be time for a mini-retirement. lol

You do realize that this is a fantastically supportive argument for esoteric's position, right?

LMAO. I just checked GTii's twitter yesterday for the first time in months. Nothing's changed. Much like GTii itself. lol

I only climb into bed. And with all that cash piled up under it, it’s a pretty treacherous climb.

Or as we climbers would say, gnarly.

    Do we say that?

Has anyone seen Fast and the Furious 9?

It somehow raised the bar on how absurdly terrible those movies could get.

I can see it fine. I just don't have the existential angst about it that you do.

Some are always going to have it worse and better. It doesn't bother me. The world has always been thus.
