I carried a folder thru out my working years, being an outdoors person i always carried a fixed blade in the field, my choice from early on was the Schrade "Sharp finger" imop a great knife! Schrade went out of business many years ago, sold to a foreign interest (Taylor, I think) and are now made in China ? any way, I have one that has been setting on a shelf in the garage for quite some time, I am not sure if this would fit your purpose or not but you are welcome to it, it is new (or like new) never been sharpened, it does have a small blemish on the blade how that got there i do not know, if you would like it, send me a pm with your address & i will ship it off to you, (this one is USA made)

Been sharpening the entire line up lol. Put a 25 degree edge on my budget steelwill cutback. Who'da thunk D2 would be easier to sharpen haha

Not sure the type of steel but have heard that VG10 is most commonly used in Damascus.. who knows really though...

Edit> It wasn’t clear when I bought this but the clip can be left or right….which matters for us lefty’s… :amen:

I've been looking everywhere for a reverse tanto ProTech Malibu. My local store finally got one in, but it was a special edition selling for $500. The search continues lol

According to Civivi it's base steels are 9Cr18MoV and 10Cr15CoMoV. Whether that's true or not, I don't think they even know for sure. They don't make it in-house, so they can only relay to us what they are told by their supplier. It should actually be a decent performing blade material.

My local store is Mark’s Outdoor. They do ship though. On Going Gear, that blue was out of stock unless I was looking in the wrong place.

Thanks!.. I did a little googleing and the 10CR compares to VG10 but is apparently different. Either way it appears to be a good performer as you mentioned and is certainly a step up from the 8CR13MOV stuff. Thanks for the info.

I cleaned the rosewood aka Cuibourtia and applied some boiled linseed oil....which is a great way to make the pattern in the wood pop...

I may have posted this knife before if so please look at this as an update. I bought this at Lowes for less than $20, I have been pretty rough on it for a couple months now and it has held up real good so far. I had to sharpen it before I started using it but so far it has held an edge real good. Great beater knife as far as I can tell. They are sold on Amazon for a couple $ more also.FB973A57-DB72-4973-AF0D-6EB2259302AE.jpg6E7819C1-8609-4BDA-91B5-3DC9F2EE964D.jpgAA39A9DB-F0F4-4158-BA49-38B82EB6CF47.jpg
