Shop Time w/T.W. Friends

Oh I still work a full time job.. my 20 years was for a moderately busy volunteer fire department serving 10k residents in about 35 square miles. Last year we responded to 654 calls

If it was Lime Green you would be all over it!

 

That would have been a much better choice.

No it stays outside. I do try to tuck the plug under the coupler when not in use so it stays out of the weather a bit. The wires were broken right at the plug.

 

Never been fired.

Quit a few that meant nothing.

1st job was an opener at
McDonald's.

If you are 17 and can be there every day you are scheduled at 5am, a lot of leeway is given.

I told off the the store manager because I thought she was too hard on the special needs guy. I may have been wrong or I may have been right. I dunno.

I just told her he and everyone here were doing the best job they could. Dial it back a notch.

Absolutely no penalty. Completely surprised.

I was pissing my pants thinking I was heading for the door being fired.

She must have had second thoughts.

Finished the summer working there and headed off to college.

I think this was the point I realized just showing up was 80% of the job.

Showing up early has benefitted me my whole life.

At one point written on the whiteboard at my old job was "Your availability is your best ability".

 

My new engine is lime green

 

A bad day for tires, glad my flat was right in my own dooryard.

I try to help people when I can -- sometimes it doesn't work out so well:

I'm coming out of Wally World one day and see an older gentleman struggling to put his purchases in his vehicle.
I step up and say "need a hand sir?"
He barks back "NO, I've got it!"
I was somewhat surprised by the harsh response -- until I noticed -- the gentleman was missing his left hand...

I slunk away...

 

Bwahaha!

 

I couldn't have said "may I help you sir?"...

I felt 2 feet tall and like I was wearing a T shirt that said "smartass"...

 

I'm done worrying about feelings.

I intend to be helpful. If I'm perceived to be a smartass, it's on them.

There is too much sensitivity going on.

I'm doing the best I can.

Believe me. If I want to be a prick, no one is going to wonder if I'm goofing around .

 

We're gonna need to see more of that !
