They got it wrapped w half matte charcoal and pewter and methods for it. Lol. She is bringing it up here in a few months. I’m gonna do some fancy carpentry shit in it w a bunk setup. Been learning about all the mounting shit people use for them. They spend a few months a year in Utah and have 3 little hellions so air travel is expensive.

I hope it came with service records.. tell them to look out for the sound/feeling of driving over a rumble strip. If they catch it early, They'll only need the torque converter rebuilt (1 out of 2 for me) if not, they'll need a torque converter and a trans.

No not really for sure, if PM is done they really are great and long lasting. But alot of people in my experience get sticker shock over the cost of what having someone else do the work actually costs. I'm mechanically handy and could do fluid and belt/pulley changes so if they are it can be okay but shits tight and it takes longer and is much more frustrating to work on. So I understand why it's so expensive to pay someone else to work on it

@Yota X stolen from a shop website in Kentucky but this is important

    Broken Flex Pipe
The Sprinter van’s exhaust flex pipe is known to breakdown and cause engine trouble. The pipe develops a hot exhaust leak and melts the flex pipe wiring. The hot exhaust can also melt the DEF nozzles and, sometimes, the DEF lines. This results in engine shutdown until such time as the flex pipe is replaced.

    Clogged Diesel Particulate Filter
The Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) filters exhaust particles to prevent black smoke from exiting through the Sprinter’s tailpipe. Foreign particulates can clog the DPF and interrupt the exhaust flow. If the exhaust is not exiting the engine, you’ll end up with performance issues and possibly a total shutdown.

    DEF Failure
If you get a check engine warning while you’re on your delivery route, the Sprinter van might be telling you that the DEF heater has failed. The DEF heater works with the DEF/AdBlue tank, which can freeze up without the heat supplied by the DEF heater. Freezing usually only occurs during the cold winter months.

    Faulty Glow Plugs
The Mercedes Sprinter diesel van uses glow plugs instead of spark plugs to fire up the engine. These plugs wear down and fail over time just as spark plugs do, or they can be broken. The nice thing about glow plugs is they last much longer than spark plugs because they only fire up when you start the van.

    Oil Leaks
Oil leaks, specifically oil cooler leaks, are common on Sprinter vans. The oil leaks commonly occur at the oil cooler gasket, and replacing the gasket can solve the problem. It’s important to have oil cooler leaks repaired right away, however, as the oil seeps out of the gasket and onto the engine’s cooler seals.

    “Rumble Strip” Noise
If you’ve ever driven over rumble strips, you know what the Sprinter “Rumble Strip” noise problem is. Low or incorrect transmission fluid can make it sound and feel as if you’re driving on a rumble strip. The more common cause, however, is a worn-out torque converter clutch, which can be rebuilt.

    Start Countdown Failure
Aside from freezing up in cold weather, the DEF/AdBlue system can also cause a startup countdown prematurely. This is how many times you can start the Sprinter’s engine again. Once the countdown reaches zero, you won’t be able to start the van. Faulty DEF and NOX sensors also cause this problem.

It's less Tacoma and more mod
Don't forget it's technically a European product, that commands more in repair hourly (the techs are in higher demand to fix shit that isn't a van) and much higher part cost.

Does it have any goodies already? Cause that seems like the going rate for a used sprinter lol. It's bougie as fuck to own a sprinter if you're not using it to make money as a business. A slightly used bare bones sprinter is 50k avg

I wished it was a shorty. It was probably considered a 1 ton. You have an optimistic take on accessibility. I really disliked the working conditions in that van.

Huh. I dunno what they are new off the lot, maybe they did have to order it. Especially since you said 70k was the price and I thought 70k was the mileage they bought it with

    :rofl::rofl::rofl:

No I think was being honest if it's bear bones lol. Quick Google search is telling me I can get a 2019 sprinter for 45,999 so I was off on what they're actually worth. However my point still stands that they will only last forever if you keep up on PM and swallow the fat ass horse pill of either paying someone else or fabricating your own tools on occasion to work on it.

I’ve been a mechanic of Japanese stuff my whole life. I’ve never owned an American car other than 3 jeeps before I was 18.

200k on a Toyota maintained decent looks golden inside. Hondas don’t sludge at all! You can go 100k on 1 oil change.

I got my LS motor w 65k on it and it looked like a million mile Honda. She got the full carb spray/air clean out, all new gaskets, oil bypass delete, chain, oil pump and I’m hoping for the best. They seem to be pretty strong though.
