Those of you with multiple vehicles, when/do you drive all of them?

I realized this is the epitome of a first world problem, but I'm just curious how often people drive their second third and fourth vehicles.
I have the truck, but also two project cars, all in pretty good shape but they mostly just sit. I go back and forth all the time on selling the two projects, but I really don't want to, even though I have absolutely no practical use for them.

I happen to live a block from work so I don't even drive to work anymore, so I have the three trucks pretty much just sitting all the time, and it got me curious what other people do with their second cars.

I know a lot of you guys have Tacomas, some S2ks, couple Porsches, 4runners, etc. Aside from a few Sunday drives, when do you ever use the second cars?

 

Project car is sitting and rotting at the minute. Fiance's Baja, needing a head gasket (wow, shock), plus I'm sure a whole host of other things for sitting unattended for 6 years.

She dreams of lifting it for rally style driving.

... Might be easier to rally her Mazda3 hatch, but that one's still waiting for it's first oil change.

 

My Tacoma is technically the 3rd vehicle. It is 15+ years old and doesn't get the miles on it that it used to. We have a 2020 Ford Explorer that is our family car. I also have a 2014 F150 crew cab 4X4 that I use when I need a big truck or to pull our travel trailer. The Ford gets a lot more miles, but I drive the Tacoma more days. Mostly just local trips, hunting, and occasional for a trip within about 100 miles. That cuts down on miles on the big truck and saves me a bit on gas.

 

I drive my Tacoma about 9-10,000 miles a year, have put 8,000 miles on my Duramax in 4 years. I only use it to move my tractor or camper. Hopefully selling the camper soon and may get rid of the Duramax. Will have to figure out something to move my tractor a few times a year. My wife's Suburban is a 2019 and has 18,000 miles on it. We mainly use it for trips.

 

I have put more km's on my homebuilt electric bicycle in the last few months ( about 600km's a month) than my 09 Tacoma, 1991 collector plated Tercel, and 2014 Yamaha WR250r combined. The more I ride, the more I dread driving in the city for most parts of the day. I'm looking forward to some longer road/camping trips in the truck this summer. Anything less than 10km's is a bike ride, as is the 17km commute.

 

My second (KTM 390 Duke) was my Sunday ride, but now has become my DD since the weather is nice now and gas is $4.99 locally. Truck mainly sits since April, but it has seen a few longer road trips and hardware store runs recently. I'm sure once it gets proper hot here in Utah, I'll be back in the truck for that sweet, sweet A/C.

Tacoma, CT200 Lexus (the tiny hybrid), and an unreliable money pit of a BMW 428i. Wife drives the hybrid (I do very occasionally), and I've been splitting time between the Taco and the BMW (which has as its only redeeming quality it gets 35mpg, but on premium gas).

Most days though, I just plan a bike ride that leaves from my house to spend the "idle" time after work (I usually WFH)

 

I have the Tacoma and a Wrangler. My wife has a Honda Pilot. I split my driving between the Tacoma and the Jeep. If the wife is with me we usually take her car.

 

Long story but ended up with a third car. It’s older but low miles, in great condition and gets 10 more MPG than my truck (and 5 more than Mrs Bean’s car). It’s hard not to drive it with gas prices going crazy.

 

i've got a brz as well as the tacoma.

it's really easy, truck is for work, car is for fun. this ends up meaning truck does weekday duties, the car does most of the weekend duties.

the car's more enjoyable, does everything i want/expect a vehicle to do in the way i expect it to be done, so i'd much rather use that all the time, but using something fun all the time tends to exacerbate it's wear. and i'm also always involved in projects, and 8' lumber doesn't fit in a tiny sports car all that great.

the dilemma now is that i like the tacoma, but don't have the space, time, or money for a 3rd vehicle... so the taco ends up serving beater daily work truck duties until someone sends me a winning lottery ticket!

 

Tacoma is my daily driver and slowing becoming my fun toy.

Sequoia ……is my road trip, Vegas weekend with kids and my parents or in laws hauler.

M3 ….my ex daily driver is now just occasionally driven.

1999 Civic Si bone stock with low miles ….my investment. One day will be worth more than my 401k.

RX350….wife’s car. It is AWD though .

I like them all but I am thinking of replacing the Sequoia with a Land Cruiser or LX570.

 

I own three vehicles: Tacoma, 1993 Wrangler, 1978 F250

I mainly drive a company-owned truck during the week, with the Tacoma being my primary/daily when I'm off; I'd rather not drive the work truck all the time for personal/liability reasons. It still gets about 8,000 miles a year due to living outside of city limits.

The jeep is a project/toy. It does a fair amount of sitting by comparison, but I like it and see no reason to sell.

The F250 is mainly a farm truck/mass mover, and I'd be surprised if it gets over 1,000 miles a year. It's simple and reliable, and its benefits outweigh the current cost of operation.

Used to have a few motorcycles and a project car, but sold all of them due to lack of use.

 

We rarely drive , but we usually take my 1st Gen. Wife's RAV4 is only used to go to special events.

 

My Taco has recently become my weekend toy. Wife drives a new F-150 King Ranch; beautiful truck. With gas the way it is, my 45 minute commute at 15MPG didn't make sense for me in my truck. So my DD is now a hybrid, not sexy my any means, but 55MPG feels a lot better than 15. Less than 10 gallons to fill it up every other week; works for me. Honestly it's a lot more comfortable than the Taco too, and the stereo doesn't even compare, haa!

 

Same here, I drive the wheels off my 06 Tacoma, and my Duramax LML sets in the garage until its time to pull a trailer.

I have a 13 Sienna, 21 CX5 and a 17 Tacoma. My truck I just drive to work and to Drag Races I like to attend. It's parked in the winter and rainy days. The CX5 is my wife's and the Sienna is our work horse with 70000 miles.
It hauls everything from groceries to old people with leaky body parts. We hold on to it because it is easy for my older relatives to get in and out of. The seats are covered just in case. I made my uncle sit on a floor mat to protect the seat after he let loose in it. It becomes my winter ride when they start salting the roads. That Sienna has been awesome over the years.

 

Up until Dec 2021 I had a 2021 Tacoma Off Road as my daily and a 2020 911 Cab for the fun car. Wife has a 2021 Macan GTS for her daily.
We both work from home, so not really a lot of miles on any of them.

Dec 2021 traded the Tacoma in for a 2022 TRD Pro ( hasn't arrived yet, but gave up the old one right away), so the 911 became my daily driver.
May only have done about 2,500km on it so far this year.
Wife bought 2021 Jeep 2 Dr Wrangler for her fun car.
She alternates the 2 for her various trips.

Since we don't do a lot of driving anymore, thinking I may sell ( trade) the 911 when the Pro eventually arrives. Big price difference between the 2, so will pocket a fair bit. Really like the 911, but it's way too easy get get tickets or even impounded, and it really is too much car without going to a track. So I may miss it when I go back to one vehicle for my DD ( Taco).
Daily driving for us includes, groceries, visiting the kids ( 2 miles away), picking up take out, and just drives to get out for a while. ie a 40 mile round trip to buy donuts.


If I do need my fix for speed and some corners, the Macan is plenty capable for that.
The fuel consumption in the Taco is about 20% worse than the 911 (this thing is actually really good on gas as it barely needs to work to drive at some fun speeds), but again with low mileage and saving $ on the trade, that won't be an issue.

So, just try to rotate them so the fuel stays fresh, batteries fully topped up.
Sort of like switching jackets/shoes/boots, shirts. Depends on how we feel on different trips as to which one we take out. But a small part of me doesn't like them just sitting there not getting driven, but do also like the variety.

 

My '21 OR is my weekend/camper tow vehicle. I DD an '07 Mazda 3 5spd to work and back during the week since its 70 miles round trip.
