With the pool PH strip I hot 8.5. I don't know what it is today. Probably not any better.

I can't see buying all the water softeners for this area. My friend had to replace his water filter every 2 to 3 weeks. The filter was white new, after a week it was brown. Pretty nasty. I had to use a oil filter wrench to remove the filter housing.

I had to help once. It was awkward, heavy to line up everything. I went to the garage, got the car hand jack and crank it up in place. It was so much easier. I was soaked wet when I did the wiring.

Was there a lot of iron or sediment in the water? City or well water? What did the setup consist of? A single wall mounted filter isn't going to do much. My PH and total dissolved solids vary month to month depending on how bad the city water is.

Do you follow Matt from Obsessed Garage? I've been watching his YouTube channel and enjoying his house hunting adventures in North Georgia. He's does a ton of product testing on auto and home stuff.

R.O. faucet on the right for reference. I wish my refrigerator wasn't on the other wall. I could plumb the R.O. to the ice maker.

I don't know about iron. Washing cars the water will leave calcium deposit. White spots everywhere that etch.

Years ago the city sent out a letter, don't drink the water until further notice.

My friend's house, the city water lines was rotted out. Pure rusty water.

After complaining, and the neighbor getting lawyers, the city replace the water lines.

I don't follow but sometime watch his videos. I seen the video where he tested car wash shampoos, PH levels.

Gutters are last lol, especially if you have to replace the boards (fascia) they are screwed to

vinyl soffit material is easy to install. Read up on f-channel and j channel. Usually there is a metal fascia cover/shroud that sits between the gutter and fascia/eve board and catches and covers the outside cut edge of the soffit pieces

Sounds like a few different issues. If all of the defective pipes have been replaced a proper filtration system should clean up whatever remains. The previous owners of this place never utilized a softener or whole house filter despite having the closed loop plumbed and it took a long while before the pipes stopped flushing sediment out and destroying valves.

A deionized water rinse system will absorb all the calcium and magnesium for car washing, but with the water quality you're describing a large sediment and whole house filter plumbed before the DI rinse would be needed to prolong the life of the DI resin. Otherwise that resin will wear out quick.

Ironically I've joked about a class action suit against the city water department for all the damage they've caused. Even consulted with an attorney who said "I wasn't the first to raise the issue," but also said "it would be very difficult to prove and get them to pay out."

Heck, the city's 3 years behind on paving our street, yet they keep raising property taxes. :angrygirl:

After the pipes were replace it took about 6 months for the repairs and rust to flush out. Now the water is clear.

This is the filter type my friend uses.

    a627014f-40c2-45b3-bcff-5e182b2d82a6.45e2a5a2af2d9838e22dc964d7deb9da.jpg

It's not much but it helps with the rust at that time. At the rate these filter was getting replace these fit the bill.

The water pressure sucks. Most people can urinate with more pressure.

I read, to filter the whole is going to be expensive from constantly replacing the resin, cartridge, etc. I have to choose what is more important to be filtered. Eventually I going to have the water tested before any filtration system is installed.

Due to how bad the water is the neighborhood elders were getting sick. Testing done prove it was from the water.

Holy shit, I didn't even notice the hard hat. The best part is he's inside. Here's a pro-tip. Windows can't fall inward unless you REALLY fucked up the rough opening. lol

What you're using won't remove much other than sediment. You need Carbon/KDF for cleaning/purification.

You could do a couple inline sediment filters like what you're using plumbed before a Fortitude. If you keep up on the sediment filter changes it will last a long time. The upfront cost would be there, but the ongoing costs for sediment filters would be low.

This one's good for 1.5 million gallons before it needs to be replaced. Figure out how many gallons of water you average a month and pick one accordingly.
