Got some schralpage in on the Meta Power now Mulleted. Unfortunately conditions were sloppy seconds but that's my life lately.. Gotta say bike definitely slices and dices better. It does feel a bit like a shorter CS which is great on this long mofo. I also notice some extra pamp action from the little wheel, and more torque from the motor for sure. I have ridden this bike almost exclusively in trail mode(65nm) since I've had it, the power difference from the gear change was very notable. Looking forward to get on some dry trails so I can push it a bit harder in the turns. The dual compound aggressor was hanging on for dear life vs. the shorty but not ready to take the shorty off yet.. I have ridden the aggressor before as a 3C and it was never really my fav. It was a freebie so i'll rock it for now. Maxxis needs to make a DD DHRII 2.5 already or I might be goin back to the German variety soon.

I was up at PCMR yesterday doing "bus laps." Conditions were spot on, almost damp. I also bought my summer season pass. Lifts start next Friday, June 17th. $200 is a small price to pay for never climbing Armstrong, Jenni's or John's again!!

Original Schwable Sammy Slicks finally needed to be replaced and you can't get them anymore. Picked up a set of Schwable G-One All Around and they are good on the smooth and/or gravelly portions but I almost went over when I hit a patch of sand. Was not expecting to almost come to a stop like that. Original Sammys didn't behave like that in sand.

Any recommendations for gravel/CX tires to use on sometimes sandy forest roads? Anyone have experience with the Vittoria Torreno Dry or Mix? Wheels are 700C and pretty sure I could fit a 40MM tire in the frame.

I run the G-One Allround tires now and while I'm generally happy with them, I've heard that the Terreno Dry tires are supposed to be great, so I'm trying to get my hands on a pair of those.

Do any of you put bikes in a DCU cap with one tool box. I know really specific, I'm struggling find a perfect set up. Need to carry 3 bikes inside, I have the 6 foot bed, I'm find to use fork mounts, just want to make sure I would have room for 3.
    Bonus points for pictures.

Anybody have a favorite handmade in USA hip pack company? Our team requires rather large hip packs so the pickings are slim but here are a few favorite I have found basis Google search. but I realize some of the best companies may not have the SEO to compete so I want to hear about your favorite local bag provider!

I use a High Above pack, made in Seattle? I think. I use a smaller one but believe this is their largest:

Edit: NVM the packs you posted are huge.

I just had 3 bikes in mine, but I’m also not in a Tacoma…. I use fork mounts also and wanted the mounts all at the rear of the bed. I played with the mount location so the bars all cleared each other ( I have 1 further forward and low and 2 that are about 6-8” toward the back of the truck and mounted 3” higher). I had to play with spacing quite a bit to ensure the bars cleared and you can only get but so tight with pedals. If you really need to crunch, you can shoe box them but that’s a pain to get them in and out.

Do you use these for riding or trail work or more for guides? I use North American Rescue for first aid stuff/replenishing.

On another note, what's the weather like in early December? Thats when the Baker Creek GNR event is.

These will be Guide packs. Latest first aid kit is this: https://mymedic.com/products/myfak-firstaidkit

December is excellent riding weather in East Tennessee. Probably high 50s. Only issue is the steady rain from November - March

With all that weight and the size, I'd be a bit worried about how it rides. When I pack my Osprey full, it isn't much fun to haul on jump lines or rough trails. What about looking into ultra-runner-type vests, or small backpacks, or the hip packs with stabilizers?

I have a Nittany Mountain Works frame bag, super nice quality. Not sure if their hip pack is big enough. Made in PA: https://nittanymountainworks.com/products/hip-pack

    Also, check this list: https://bikepacking.com/index/hip-packs-for-bikepacking/

Those MyMedic kits look nice for the truck but might have a bit much for single day tours. You might be able to get away with a smaller pack if you keep only life-saving stuff in it. Tourniquets, gauze, space blankets, triangular bandage and if you really want a SAM splint or two. Unless you guys have some significant medical training such as how to use an NPA (I'd assume only a paramedic or similar would have that training). I'm no expert though, just an expired WFA haha

Same. It's overkill. But its like beer - better too much than not enough
