A 65,000 mile Taco for $12,000? I would say the seller knew and just wanted to unload it.

Looks like some life lessons here. Buying a car isn't buying an appliance or an outfit, there's heaps more to the process.

You can buy a frame for under $1000. As you can now imagine, there will be several thousand more in parts from toyota as you swap what's useable from your truck to the new frame, and the week of work it takes to do. If you have the tools and know how to do so.

One guy found a truck that had a new frame but a fire, pulled the old cab off and put his on, the thread's somewhere recent on here.

I'd imagine the frames and other structural components are serviceable and intact, and each of those tacos will pass a state safety inspection.

buying an appliance or an outfit? is that some women belong in the kitchen BS? fwiw my husband was with me. We got caught up on the rest of the vehicle, the mileage, and the fact its extremely difficult to find anything at a reasonable price right now.

adding insult to injury when i am already well aware that we f’d up is unnecessary and unhelpful. I’ve sold 5 of my vehicles over the years and not a single time did a (male) buyer climb under it. We did not know of The frame issues or we certainly would have.

I could have equally stated it's unlike buying a putter or BBQ, but go ahead and make sexism a part of the discussion.

Right, but the truck's for her kid who can take this as an amazing yet challenging learning opportunity/project provided room, funding and time fit within the realm of their possibilities.

that's more than 4 yrs of deteriorating unless it was parked in water at the beach so some of this is on toyota if they ignored their own recall twice in 2017 and 2018 and didn't do frame swap when they had it those 2 times.....not that they'll admit or do anything about though. Sux, sorry for OP's experience here but 12k for something like this nowadays is too good to be true and should have arose a lot of suspicion. My truck is 08 with 200k on it with no frame or any other kind of rust and wouldn't sell even for twice that price. Hope OP can luck out somehow and score a useful frame or get made whole somhow on this.

I have a ‘12 with 125k dclb and would sell for double what op paid. Lol

but maybe you love your Tacoma more than I love mine.

Bad situation for OP. If y’all repair it, it could be something you laugh at years down the road. Best of luck!

The guy that sold you the truck is a jersey, period. There are more good people in the world who are kind and honest and hopefully you'll find someone with those qualities when it comes to repair or replacing frame. Good luck.
