Just joined, thought I'd add what I've done to my Tacoma. I got it totally stock at 83,000 miles almost a year ago and have done a few things to it (basically all these "mods" are somewhat new, haven't been on the truck very long. I'll reply a few times for different categories or whatever.

I'll start with the ISSYAUTO B08S72B5DT I got off of Amazon. At first, I had a stupid little backup camera I got from Walmart because it was cheap and why not, but I decided if I was going to have a camera, I'd get a nice one. This was a pain to get to get installed, but once I wiggled it in it was worth it. Nice camera quality. Wiring to the taillight was interesting, but it worked. Only complaints are the plastic doesn't feel as strong as OEM, I could break it off pretty easy if I really wanted too, and it doesn't open always super smooth. But it was worth it to bring the truck to the modern age.

JE-VIKAN0000HQ (both from Amazon) just for something new.

The A/C knobs are surprisingly good. The backlight looks good on them too. The only thing is for the 2 right knobs on my truck, the bolt thing that the knob slides on is different from the left one and the knobs, so for the two there is a few millimeter play between all the way left and all the way right, only my OCD would notice that thought lol.

The inserts are nice, the red adds color. Putting them in was annoying, the rubber was slippery and sticky at the same time. Also, it isn't a perfect fit in the cupholder, but again probably my OCD.

I've only had them in a few days, so there're a chance they suck.

 

Weathertech 44021-1-2. I love it. Around the edges it's folding away, but we'll see if the heat fixes that this summer. They've done their job; OEM ones would be ruined by now. I've cleaned the Weathertech a few times since winter, they're due again.

 

Never buy anything from Boss. Ever. I went through three of their head units, they're trash. Spend the extra $100 for a Kenwood or something.

Now I have a Kenwood DMX4707S. Way too overpowered for stock speakers, but that's fine it gives me an excuse to upgrade those. It's in a Metra 95-8214G dash kit and plugged into a

Metra 70-1761 wiring harness. I don't have steering wheel controls because my wheel doesn't have them. I'd like to get an OEM Toyota wheel that does though eventually, since the head unit doesn't have dials.

I also have a Skar VD-8 in a Sound Off Audio box powered by a Skar SK-M5001D. It's disappointing, I'd go back and get the 10" box. It's not terrible, bud I would've rather payed a little more money for a better system. One day maybe.

Vehicle OCD SLX133 from Amazon. Super basic, super useful. They're just glovebox/armrest dividers but they make those two unsearchable pits efficient. The armrest tray is not a great fit or as useful as the dividers though. We'll see if it stays in the truck.

 

Fitted a spacer... And a bypass

 

Headlights from Tacomabeast were time consuming to install, but basic. OEM lights kept clouding over, even after trying several things to restore them. It's annoying that the "DRL" are actually just the parking lights, but that's fine because when the Leds die that'll be interesting anyways.

UXTAGR B0995HPBYR from Amazon. License plate frames. They look cool, but they faded over winter. I'd buy something higher quality next time.

Metra WM-MM14 from Wally World. I got it just because the OEM one was annoying, flapping all over the place. Simple install.

K&N 33-2281 air filter. Maybe noticeable audible difference? All my family puts them on all their cars, I thought it was worth it.

Pressure washed and new rotors and pads in the morning when it is 5 degrees cooler

 

How is the reception with that antenna. Did you replace the cable or just the mast. My reception is very flaky. Worst I ever had in a vehicle. Not sure if it is the antenna, the cable or the stock head unit.

 

Just the mast. I haven't noticed a difference, it's still pretty good reception

 

For a 2006 Tacoma, I would have to replace the radio and install a display screen? How would this work for a 2006 Tacoma? I sure could use a backup camera, last year I almost backed into a real oldster coming out between 2 cars with a walker. The other day I backed into someones shopping cart in the Costco parking lot that was loading up on the opposite side of the lane. Scared the crap out of me...cart owner was very cool about it.

 

I have an '05 and instead of replacing the OEM radio with a newer touchscreen model, I opted to just build and mount a 10" touchscreen with a Raspberry Pi 4.
It runs normal Ras-Pi linux and has a GPS attached to it for offline mapping. It's also runs an alternative "Android Auto" system.
Now I am looking at that backup camera and will have to figure out how to add that to the system.
A front facing camera would be nice too, to see over the top of the hill your about to descend!

 

Had the shop install my 3rd gen take-offs. Glad I didn't do it myself. The sway bar linkage was completely seized, and they needed to cut them off and replace.

Reduced my rake a fair bit (HD leafs in back), and rides much steadier.

 

Surprised they couldn't break them loose with a torch and a 2 pound hammer. How is the feel. Improved ride or same feel but more level.
