Doctor that got me turned around insisted on water, water, water :bowdown:
I still have my 2 large coffee's every morning , smaller amounts of sugar free creamer plus my Ice tea throughout the day; Living in Florida you are forced to hydrate BUT now that is split to 3-4 waters to one tea...
Only other major change is more vegetables.... I pop Lil tomatoes and radishes like others eat M&M's :fistbump: and wife cooks greens for almost every meal....

Good luck and LISTEN to them Please.... I did and I'm proof 10 years and have not even talked about anything changing med wise :hattip:

Get with your Endo, find out what their recommending for carb count daily. I eat twice a day, no breakfast. But since starting dialysis, my nephro wanted me to eat more protein. So I implemented a protein shake daily. Carb count on it says 4, but is more like 20-25 once it's been processed. I honestly think being on insulin is helpful when you are carb counting. Metformin doesn't care, like a bolus would. To me being on insulin is 10x's easier to manage my BS than trying to manage it with just pills. I think my constant A1C of mid to high 5's proves my theory.

Has your Dr prescribed you a backup bottle of long acting? Under normal pump operations you should have a bottle in the fridge just in case the pump takes a crap. That combined with manual injections of the typical fast acting insulin should get you through.

I always kept pens too when I was on the pump. I had more than one occasion when sleeping and the tube would get kinked or the infusion sets wouldn’t allow insulin in so I didn’t have anything already in my system to help keep it down and it just climbed and climbed until my alarm went off.

Yup, Ive had many cannulas kink and stop delivery. And Im not even as skinny as you. Occasionally will hit a vein too, thats not fun and usually ends up in a no delivery alarm.

I had a bad batch of omnipods recently. I went through the whole box high, called it in started new box and now have had no issues.

I barely have enough room to rotate Dexcoms on my stomach in places that don’t hurt. I’ve narrowed it down to about 1.5 square inches on each side of my stomach that work well haha Definitely not enough for infusion sets too. Tried the top of my ass, but it was so inconvenient and left awful bug bite looking marks. Not sure where I’d put an omnipod so I don’t know why I’m even contemplating it haha

Omnipods aren't bad, I've never been on tandem but I'm sure you don't want an infusion site on a vessel. I have to be real careful where I place mine. I usually stick to my abdomen area. I've tried other places legs, back of my arm like shown on the commercials. Arms were super painful for me (I'm fairly thin and muscular).

Back of the arms is a no go for me too. Tried that when I was first diagnosed and had some freestyle Libres. How do the cannulas look on the omnipods? Maybe they’re smaller or more shallow than the tandem stuff

I've been with Medtronic since I was put on a pump at like age 8... 27 now (diagnosed at 20 months btw). Absolutely hate everything about their 670G that I've been on for the last 3 years (miss my old Paradigm) and wanting to switch in the future.

What does everyone recommend? I don't have any interest in CGM compatibility or closed-loop unless/until it gets completely integrated with the infusion set.

I'll try and get you a picture when I get home during my pod change. They aren't as small as the dex tho.

I really debated between tandem and omnipod. Given my active job and reaching/carrying things quite often, I opted for Omnipod. Going through the motions to get Omnipod 5 right now. I personally love omnipod, the pods are small enough for me.

Also, has anyone ever found "generic" infusion sets for any of the pumps? (lack of insurance reasons)

Same here. I can tell you the 770G is no better. Ive gotten slightly more accustom to its bullshit over the past few months I've been wearing it, but its one of the best example I can think of "if it aint broke dont fix it."

I think Medtronic really f*cked up with the 670 and 770 series replacing the Paradigm. Like Ive ranted about before in this thread, whoever programmed the menu & user interface on the 770G was.. very bad at their job.

If any of these will work you can have them for whatever it costs to ship them to you.

Those Tandem AutoSofts look like what I use now for the Medtronic, but not sure if they're compatible?
