Yes, I'm aware other manufacturers are doing this...I see where you're coming from, but I still have a few problems with missing features:
    1. Toyota is removing parts from these trucks and still charging full price (the MSRP is not being adjusted).
    2. This could create resale-ability hurdles/questions down the road if you're trying to sell a truck that's missing multiple tech/safety features that were part of specific trims/packages. For example, "The truck has the Tech Package but it's missing 2/3 of the features that were supposed to come with it."
    3. Finally, I'm guessing many of us currently waiting for Tacomas have not been informed by dealers that our trucks will arrive missing particular tech/safety features.

(In case anyone is wondering, I was quoted $1,495 + tax to add aftermarket BSM and RCTA, mainly due to the labor involved)

Anyone know of a website that provides updates? So, instead of us having to enter our VIN into Toyota Tracker or inspecting the VSPEC page, we could receive an email that our temp VIN no longer works?

    Great points!

Totally agree with you on the price and resale, which is why I brought up the question of whether or not Toyota would add the feature back in down the road. If they are going to add it later free of charge, that would negate the MSRP not being adjusted. If not, then some adjustments should definitely be made to the selling price. Also possible that some dealers will ignore any MSRP adjustments regardless, especially if they are already adding ADM.

I would also 100% agree with you that many of us have not been informed of this possibility, me being one of them. Still, I bet some folks (like me) probably don't care and just want their damn trucks already. :D

Sure would be nice to see some "official" word on this from Toyota...

I would assume they would add those features back as a recall fix.
Else you purchased something, it says it on the spec sheet it should come with it, and it doesn't work. Not making things "right" would be grounds for litigation.

    Went here:

    https://www.toyota.com/tacoma/2022/features/mpg_other_price/7594/7544/7582

Premium Package N/A on an OR w/ Manual Transmission, unless I'm reading the chart wrong... (I think you can get the Premium Package, but you need to get the Automatic....)

Interesting to see that the regular tech package only has BSM/RCTA and is not available for MT or AT, while the Advanced Tech is available and has parking sonar and no BSM/RCTA.

You may want to cancel the 10yr warranty and contact wolverine toyota. You'll save a tremendous amount of money if you paid $2500 for it.

I feel you - I want my damn truck! :)

I just text my sales rep again after your last comment, and he said Toyota has shared no plans with their dealership to add back the missing features after the owner takes delivery. According to the email their GM received from Toyota a couple weeks ago, these vehicles will be sold as built, and that will be considered the final build (with the features deleted).

Again, this is from a dealer in Northern California. I have no idea what dealers and/or states will be affected by this deletion of features.

I would have also assumed Toyota would add the features back in a recall or fix, but according to the dealer I'm working with, it sounds like Toyota is not going to do that. I wonder if the monroney/window stickers will be updated to reflect this change. I expect this is going to raise some legal questions. I may be passing on this particular truck until Toyota gets the parts back in stock.

Well, unless you have a contract that specifies exactly what you paid for, what other grounds does a buyer have to add 'deleted items back?

I think they'd be right in thinking that if you don't buy it with the deleted items, someone else will.

Asked my salesman for an update and this was his response. Anybody know if this means from the factory to the port, or port to the dealership?

“It shows that we have stuff on the load line but haven't gotten any shipping notices yet so hopefully it will soon”

He’s not the best at helpful answers.

Agreed with these points. I'm waiting on delivery of an DCLB OR with Tech Package (incl BSM and RCTA) and really hope they didn't omit those features - I was debating between the truck I ended up placing a deposit on and a very similar one, opting for the one with the BSM/RCTA specifically because I really value those safety features.

I haven't heard anything from my sales guy about this - but not sure that I would. Wondering if I should reach out and ask, so that I know ahead of time and can prepare myself for how I'll respond? Yes, I'm going to be happy and grateful just to have the truck - but there are a lot of concerns, as others have mentioned on this thread, about our trucks arriving with missing tech/safety features... Resale issues, MSRP not being adjusted, hurdles/expense of adding these features aftermarket, etc etc etc.

I work for a Chevy dealer and they've been taking out the heated seats and it's reflected on the monroney sticker with a notice of future retrofit. I can't imagine Toyota would let Chevy out do them.

Local Nissan dealer had trouble with spray on liner (I have no idea why). They gave a $400 credit for the trucks that it was missing.

If thats the case, it was not when I built a truck, nor has either dealer said it was not an option at the time they submitted my request. Would suck if thats the case.... I'll see what I can find out.

So basically the same as ordering a bacon cheeseburger, paying more $$ than on menu for a bacon cheeseburger, but only getting a cheeseburger.
